Welcome. I tend to just lurk at times and sometimes don't come but when something big happens I come. I just can't mentally take a mental hit all the time of one stupid human action after another one.

I am for the resource based economy which is sustainable so I see much of what man does like reactors plain stupid. When will mankind grow up? I have my doubts now. Mentally I am having a hard time handing this so I take a break from time to time and I am going out to find some iodine for me and just to get out.

I told my family via email. We are in W. NY but I don't think they listen to me like most of anything else. I did warn them as they have kids.

I used IMTranslator in Firefox. It is a nice plug in for FF.

Yes there was 2 earlier but they went offline. Here is another one for Chiba and about an hour or so ago it was at .19 now it is much higher

Watching CNN....Expert (name?) just talked to Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta on the nuclear explosion dangers....

Cooper asked again, how dire is the situation, especially when the evacuation perimeters are steadily being extended...

He finally admitted that things are serious at this point, and that the Japanese officials have begun to display angst and worry.....

The recorded stream keeps looping and I listen in on the little details I missed earlier. I am bored and thought I would post this. it is slowing down and getting late.

It was .89, now it is dropping a hair. Just spiked to 1.09

I am guessing the one in Chiba is measuring microseiverts?

That I can not tell but when I first say it it was .12 and now the highest I saw was 1.25 so it is a raise and can not be good.

He just said that 0.89 Microsieverts is 22 times the usual radiation level.

This whole thing is making me feel so stupid.
I don't understand these measures. I don't know what they are or what range of size they have.

Radiation was just radiation to me but now I learn there's more than one kind and what kind I have to worry about.

I REALLY appreciate it when people step up with the really informative 'teaching' posts. ATS has been the best about that, even without fancy flash schematics describing the plants.

It looks like micro if were on the same channel. the "u" sign they do weird on older technology, it'd always mess me up.

They really emphasize the lower part if that's the case!


BTW its unnerving to me how the number has been slowly going up and not coming down
EDIT: Though by steadily going up I don't mean rapid, just it seems to be on a positive slope if we were to y=mx+b it.
EDIT2: The rises (yay it fell !) are so minimal that its no cause for concern, thus far....

Big question here. Isn't all of this radiation going to just settle on everything and then all is going to be contaminated? And then what are going to be the steps to clean all of this up and will the whole country end up getting it?
Fell real bad for all these people have been going through.
