Just to try and get some perspective incase they're actually telling the truth. From the article you linked :

“They received very, very low levels of contamination,” Commander Davis said in a telephone interview from Japan early Monday.

“It certainly is not cause for alarm,” he said. “It is something we have to watch very carefully and make sure we are able to monitor, and to mitigate against this environmental hazard.”

Actually, the next part says what's already been quoted about them receiving 1 months worth of radiation, so that's not good at all.

Kind of strange that actually, because I think a lot of people in the east see the Tao as a spontaneous growing being, which would mean the exact opposite of control. Let's just hope the Tao is smart with this one and helps us get through this a lot better if there's any truth to it.

Unfortunately,I dont believe that ANY government,or agency s would tell the truth,when its about impending doom. They are going to wait till the final minute. There are serious problems with multiple reactors. Talk of meltdowns,and radiation being vented.180000 evacuated tells me the severity of the problem.

Back to topic. Yes Nuclear power is still be best option in the face of waning fossil fuels. This was a once in a 50 year quake and nothing bad is going to come out of this. Japan a few months ago planned on building more reactors.
