Signs announce new gang in western Mexico

news.yahoo.com

MORELIA, Mexico – Banners hung in a western Mexican state Thursday announced a previously unknown gang calling itself the "Knights Templar," less than a month after La Familia drug cartel said it intended to disband.

The signs said the "Knights" will replace the cartel and fend off any other gangs looking to make inroads in Michoacan state.

Knights Templar? I think ATS might be interested in this.

The Knights have declared they will maintain order in the state of Michoacan while also providing aid to the poor.

I would like to know why they chose that name. What is the source of their wealth? Are they former members of La Familia? What are their real objectives?

That is an interesting name! Someone has to step up to protect the people there. The violence and gangs are destroying the communities, destroying the tourism capital, and the police have been unwilling or unable to do anything about it. I hope the new Knights have some success.

That's an old trick, the mafia used to say the exact same thing.

Don't worry, Knight Templar or La Familia, it will be the same for those involved, otherwise that wouldn't be a gang. They'll probably offer their protection in exchange of money and beat the crap out of every person that can't afford that so called "protection".
They'll kill every guy that tries to earn money off the same business they live on and will make a profit out of drug, like every mexican cartel does.

more likely they would recruit anybody in the same business, if they are still "up and coming".

This is no coincidence. They chose that name very carefully, and after a thorough history lesson. Another thing to keep an eye on, nice find
