This from Reuters 20 mins agoaf.reuters.com...

MOSCOW, March 10 (Reuters) - Russia's foreign minister warned world powers on Thursday against meddling in the affairs of Libya and other African countries, saying military intervention would be unacceptable.

Moscow could use its clout, siding with fellow permanent U.N. Security Council member China, to temper Western policy and influence global actions, as it has done with Iran in an eight-year-long stand-off over its disputed nuclear activity.

Sergei Lavrov said Western discussion of proposals for a no-fly zone over the North African country was premature and had not yet been put before the Security Council, where Russia holds veto-wielding power.

Moscow siding with China is not a situation that I would like to see happen. How far would Moscow's displeasure be felt if a no fly zone does become a reality over Libya. Before a no fly zone can be implemented Libya's capability of hitting NATO or other forces planes would have to be taken out. Very dangerous times ahead.

Not surprising in the least to me that China and Russia are permanent U.N. members. They are apart of the new world order conspiracy. If they attack us, don't be surprised. The Bible said a nation from the north (Russia) and a nation from the east (China) would attack Babylon (which is America and several other countries and cities).

I agree with China and Russia. BTW i want all of you supporting a No-Fly zone to actually search what that intails, as it would be a Major military operation, which aims to REMOVE all of Lybias both Air and Anti Air capabilities. Its not just slaping a sign on a map and saying you cant fly here, Hence it is bassicaly an invasion with a different name.

Also what good are these protests which are against dictators (which the US have put in place) if the US just come in and make them a different "more open" (the illusion of choice and freedom) US puppet state.

The US have no right to take any action, and i hope they dont go against UN like they did with Iraq

for those who seem to have swallowed the propaganda maybe Russia knows something you don't:

Obama asks Saudis to airlift weapons into Benghazi www.abovetopsecret.com...

Exclusive: Benghazi Explosion – Tactical Nuke Use By Gaddafi Suspected www.abovetopsecret.com...

Tactical BS more like it, it was the BS meter that actually exploded
, later shown to be the bombing of a local arms depot/cache

Originally posted by ProtoplasmicTraveler The headline ought to read Tactical Nuke Use By Gaddafi Suspected by Donald Duck. The article seems to be making a case for that any explosion anywhere that either hurts or offends the sensibilities of Americans is a tactical nuke! The article also suggests the Oklahoma Bombing was a tactical nuclear device! Seems like yet another sensationalized accusation of the kind that gave us WMD in Iraq. Just a lot of unsubstantiated gibberish designed to enflame and anger people and get people here thinking about paying for another war for oil. How many times are the American people going to get fooled by the same old song and dance, wrap it in a flag, and have God bless it, and presto whamo American bombs start snuffing out 'collateral damage' everywhere.

Benghazi's importance to Libya and possibly the World:
also explains why Qaddafi has come down really harsh on these "rebels"

While many countries in the Middle East and North Africa bicker over water rights, Libya has tapped into an aquifer of 'fossil water' to change its topography – turning sand into soil. The 26-year, $20 billion project is nearly finished. …The Great Man-Made River, which is leader Muammar Qaddafi's ambitious answer to the country’s water problems, irrigates Libya’s large desert farms. The 2,333-mile network of pipes ferry water from four major underground aquifers in southern Libya to the northern population centers. Wells punctuate the water’s path, allowing farmers to utilize the water network in their fields. ... “Water is more precious for us than oil. ... Water here in Libya, it’s life.”

after all why would Qaddafi want to damage or destroy a 26-year, $20 billion project that he considers his life's work?
Virtually unknown in the West: Libya's water resources. The real reason for toppling Qaddafi? www.abovetopsecret.com...

I know what a no-fly zone entails first hand. You might want a more representative nick such as "NoThinker" than wisethinker. 36 hours would shut down Gaddafi's airforce and level the playing field.
Or are you such a racist that Libyans don't deserve freedom after 42 years under that freak?

They ( the opposition) are pleading for a no fly zone. I think its only a matter of time before one is authorised.

Ahah I was waiting for such a comment concerning vodka when I first saw the topic concerning Russia. If there is truly something this country can be proud of it is of their alcoholic beverage invention : the vodka.

I seen you were a registered Republican as you had posted in another thread. Thanks for only confirming exactly what the Paleoconservatives had said about Neocons.

If they do not like what you say they run to "racism" the oldest card in the Left-wing playbook. Well my friend, well played.

However call me a racist all you want my response will be
because that only shows you have such a lack of control in the situation being discussed that you must resort to petty name-calling.

Libyan rebels should win the fight with their own merits and using their own blood. There is no justifiable reason for the United States to have any involvement in their situation whatsoever. Leave Libya to the Libyans. If victory is theirs they will be far more powerful for it but if someone fights their battles for them then they have won nothing. And do not use the "it makes the fight equal" argument because enforcing a no-fly zone is an act of war by a foreign power, making Qaddafi's stumbling speech only more credible in the eyes of undecided Libyans.

Obama is trolling you guys!

Trust me Barry and his communist cronies want to be in Libya, they don't give a damn about the people though. The only reason we haven't done anything is because WE CAN'T afford to and no one will loan us money America is flat broke and Barry doesn't wanna admit it!

Well, it is not surprising that the autocratic Russia and the single-party-dictatorship which is China are keen to see a state of international inaction in support of people wanting greater liberties.

I imagine China is somewhat worried by the events in North Africa and the Middle East and I would be interested to see how much of it is reported on Chinese State TV and their heavily censored internet. It would not be in China’s interests to have to face another Tiananmen Square.

36 hours and you can announce victory just like you did in Iraq, wait how'd that work out for you.... and the conflict is now officially recognised as a Civil War, if the US intervenes it will defeat the WHOLE reason for the Uprising, as the US will the influence the after math of the situation. I agree that it is a horrible situation, but that does NOT justify the US sticking their noses in it, and lets look at the US;
Highest Gun crime in the world,
Highest Prison Population
Highest prescription (drugs) Per Capita
Highest amount of Hard Drugs

Now do we really want to export these morals to the rest of the world? or maybe should we let them solve it themselves and let them create a government (if the rebels win) by the people, of the people and for the people, which the US government stopped being a long time ago
