but then I opened my eyes and started using my brain...

Hmmm, that's odd. That was my thoughts about leaving Atheism for Christianity.

Wow, just read the other replies...

Any chance we can change the thread title to "Anti-Christian Circle Jerk"?

And you demonstrate that to me by providing a prejudicial conjecture?

Gotcha.

How to Witness to Gays.

Well, I thought this was referring to how to stand as witness at marriage ceremonies.

Man, was I off ... Why am I not surprised it turned into yet another, bashing thread?

Actually I prefer the following approach, with a bit of talent and music.
It first made me question animalistic aspects of a precious human lifetime, and how meat and junk was ruining my body.
It never made a point of homosexuality, but warned against illicit sex in general.
Krishna's names cannot be blasphemed, because the sound vibration itself cause gradual change.
Despite being HIV-positive I am in better health than ever, and the real advice given by the devotees of Lord Krishna helped me.
What? These two clowns want to preach "spirituality" from their cheesy TBN perch?
Oh please.

Kirk Cameron (and his constant lifestyle "companion" - well they discuss "homosexuality" without defining it) before and after editing answers:

Ouch.

I'd say God doesn't have a beginning or an end.
These concepts are invented in our material plane.
Why must there be a beginning or an end?
Why can't we have a cycle, for example?
My experience as a child of time was much longer and more boring than now.
So the experience of time changes.
If I can believe in "heaven" and reincarnation when the material body ends, then how can I have immortality going forward; but not backwards?
So, for me it is silly to say God must have a beginning.
Material science says the same: we are star dust.
We consist of things that came before, and we decompose into things that go after.
Material science can also not answer this question.
It can say material things were once very small and then exploded, but it also cannot say: where did they come from?
So from my spiritual perspective material science and ancient religion are one.

Well, that's the answer I would have given.

Oh yeah, Kirk Cameron implies (but never defines): homosexuality is a branch of sin (see video) made up of trans-sexuals and gender-bending men. While I respect such communities, I think both trans-gender people and gay people know that we are not the same. So why does Cameron discuss a long-suffering trans-sexual person with gays (and where are the lesbians)?
What a terrible show of ignorance for propaganda.
How patriarchal.
No really - how gay!
I'd love to see his show on polygamy in Africa when he shares his gems of wisdom.
I'd also love to see shows where they question preachers formerly caught with their pants down.
I mean once you're saved you can't exactly be "unsaved" - or can you?
You could just say you're a very naughty Christian.
Besides, they like each other a lot.
Isn't that gay?
Or is "gay" just anal sex and being a trans-sexual?
Well I think they make a stunning couple, and I pity their wives - two men with so much shared missionary work to do. Sigh...
Always Bible-bashing somewhere else - together.
How romantic.

God doesn't like hypocrites.

This is your thread right?

Or are you just that indecisive?

It means to attempt to convert someone to your religion. It comes from the idea of speaking as someone who has witnessed Gods glory and then conveying that experience to another person so as to convince them to convert.

Susan Harding wrote an excellent book and the first chapter is called Speaking is Believing and she does a break down of the conversion process through preaching. It really is an amazing study, especially if one is not aware of the subliminal effect of preaching.

Actually, what you've described is called "Proselytizing", not witnessing.

Proselytizing is the act of attempting to convert people to another opinion and, particularly, another religion.

I think Christians mean they want us to be regular straight people, like US America in the 1950s.
You know, one man and one lifelong woman partner.
Like Jesus had, and the apostles, and St Paul (err, did they?).
If it was good enough for Abraham, it was good enough for everybody today.
You know, get a wife, sleep with the maid.
It's good old family values based on a whole book where nobody does it.
But heck, I'm sure God is straight and doesn't just commune with men created in his own image.
I'm sure there's a Mrs God that leaves all that important stuff to her hubby, and is therefore not mentioned.

OK, how about one of you try to counter this: Whether I was born this way, or it was the environment I was raised in, I did NOT choose to be Gay... I simply am... And according to the tennants and dogma of your faith, not only is this an 'abomination' to your God, but your God is also the one who made me this way, as according to your faith, God made us all. Thus your God made me with the knowledge that I had next to no chance to avoid eternal damnation (as it is next to impossible to control one's thoughts and desires). So either your God is a sadistic bastard, or your religion is full of crap... You can dance all around this all you want, but the logic will still stand... And if He's a sadistic bastard, he deserves neither my worship, nor my love... And if He's a figment of the twisted imaginations of other mere mortals, it's a complete waste of my time and energy to even acknowledge His non-existence...

Feel free to try to double talk your way out of that...
