Good morning everyone. I was talking with a friend this morning about this topic of the Westboro folks and the recent S.C.O.T.U.S ruling that
indicated they do have the right to protest funerals (See this thread for more info & discussion specific to that:
www.abovetopsecret.com...)
Anyway, I think we can all agree that no matter if you like the ruling or not, the Supremes did their job and made a decision. We are suppose to live
by it and honor that ruling on law. Well, I say, Of course we do. But, that doesn't mean we can't do anything!
My friend told me to check out the Patriot Guard (
www.patriotguard.org...). I said I thought you had to be a motorcycle rider type etc---from
what I had seen in the news and if it was the same group. He said it is in fact the same group but you can be from any walk of life etc. A pretty
much all inclusive group. So, I went to the site. I joined up before I left.

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement
The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an
unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.
We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be
a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.
Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic
objectives:
Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.
We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.
To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor
and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

Statement regarding the Supreme Court ruling
(I don't want to steal their thunder-go an check it out)
Then, check out the rest of the site. It is heart warming to see some many being involved and Trying to make a difference. Better than not doing
anything at all. Right?
So, we/you can do something. If some poor soldier from your area is being put to rest-go and support that family-be a part of something bigger than
yourself. It is easy for us to forget the on-going war but it still is there. Consider joinging and/or supporting.
I wish I would have known about this group when those Westboro nuts were in this area-the case that lead to the Supremes ruling. It will be different
now.... By the way, I an NOT a motorcycle rider and I joined.

That was not my intent to indicate violence. Good advice on the title change.
