This question is about saving ourselves in case of a possible devastation.

Do you think that if some catastrphic event were to happen on 2012 the governments would not do anything about it because its too expensive?

For example a large asteroid is heading to earth but the cost of sending anything to intercept it is too astronomical so they will do nothing about it.

This seems just too funny and stupid that i think thei might do just that ...

Sorry if its in the wrong forum....

I agree. If they didn't do it, then their chances of survival is slim to known.

I think they can already shoot down asteriods from the moon and other locations. Do I feel the GOV. is a malice beast. Yes at times I do. But fortunatley there are people who work for the GOV. who have souls and hearts and really wish to support their kind. Its just there are powerfull ones in position who call the shots and they must submitt their wills and follow A WILL GIVEN TO THEM BY GOD....

No, I think they would do everything they could regardless of astronomical costs, even if they knew their efforts would be futile. Most people want to keep living, and though desperation causes people to do funny things, I don't think they would just give up.

yeah they would do anything to save their asses and the other rich people who can afford to live.

Thats what i was trying to prove with this thread, that money is the very thing that might kill humanity.

Trust me they are so selfish you couldn't even imagine it.

I once was at the House of the People here in my Romania and i overheard two politicians talking about the pensions and how to vote and trust me if you would have hears how they dared talk about us "scum" and "dirt on the face of the earth" you would have punched them. And this comes from some small politicians in a small insignificant country. Imagine how the big douches consider us .

Money would be worthless so what would it matter?

Couldn't be more right.

Besides, what do you think could cost more than the available money? To my mind, nothing. Money is valueless when a E.L.E. is afoot. If we have enough resources and people to counter the attack, we will do so. Money has been invented by men, resources, by Earth.

I think in that example they would try to shoot it down if it was an ELE.... but if it was something less then that they would definately consider cost...

What does america care if say, china got wiped out.

They're all safe in their bunkers anyways...

They would save the Earth for sure but as usual only the rich and elite would be saved. Then they government would have a population like what they have wanted all along. So called learned people who know how to run a country...pfffff. My guess is it would be rather like supremecy, been their goal all along but a huge disaster would be in their interests I fear.

That's interesting why do you think that we have this capability and for how long? Is this the US, the Chinese, the Russians, or someone else?

What if the asteroid could not be stopped? "Shooting it down" isn't actually possible. There is no down in space. It could be deflected.

Or how about this malicious thought. What if it can be slowed or sped up so that it hit another place on the Earth? It's aimed at the Earth. It can't be deflected enough for a miss, but maybe if the velocity was changed far enough away it might hit Poland instead of Russia or Vancouver instead of Calgary because the Earth is rotating.
