Even though the Founders of our nation built our Constitution based on Judeo-Christian principles, they ensured everyone's right to freedom of religion and separation of church and state. We were not founded as a Christian nation. They understood the difference between a religious government and a secular one and knew that a government controlled by a church would be disastrous and would limit the freedoms and rights we now enjoy.

Contradictory. You are stating that people can have free speech, "but the[re] should be an exception to that rule for blasphemy" - so in effect, you are stating that there should not be free speech regarding your religion...you can't have it both ways!

What have you to say about blaspheming other beliefs, is that ok then, because they are not beliefs you agree with?

It must be considered, that a certain percentage of the early settlers were christian bigots, who literally were KICKED out of Europe, because they were impossible to have around.

Quote: ["People can have free speech as long as they want....."]

That's very generous of you.

Quote: [.....but their should be an exception to that rule for blasphemy."]

So your propaganda can go un-opposed.

Quote: ["That is why this country is spiraling down into a cesspool because people have no respect for God and his laws."]

There's another school of thought saying, that it's YOUR kind spiralling US down into a cesspool.

Quote: ["God rained down fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah because of their blatant disregard for God and his laws."]

Yeees, those were the days...

Quote: ["Our country is like they are now with open homosexuality, gay marriage, etc."]

So next step towards theocracy will be.....anti-homosexuality laws?

Quote: ["We need to turn back to God and his Word if we are to survive as a nation."]

Who are 'we'?

Quote: ["Look at the Greeks and Romans, their nations fell because they practiced homosexuality, God did not spare them."]

Does this come from any acknowledged academic research, or is it just some overheated fantasy playing tricks?

This is just another one of your anti-homosexuality hate threads. I know you disguised it as a religious thread, but the intention is clearly the same. I feel bad that some people are so filled with hatred... :shk:

Well, I do not follow any Abrahamic religion, I don't care what people do with their bodies, and I have no inclination to interfere in anyone's personal matters.

I guess there is no place for people like me in this brave new world of yours?

Your hatred is not welcome here, but you have the right to spew your venow while the owners and staff of the site allow it. I just won't be reading it anymore.

This nation is not a christian nation and has never been because we are a nation of many faiths even from the beginning. From Article 11 of the The Treaty of Tripoli.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Even though this was from a treaty with another nation it still holds true. We are not a christian nation.

You should really read the link below.

A man told his grandson: "A terrible fight is going on inside me -- a fight between two wolves. One is evil, and represents hate, anger, arrogance, intolerance, and superiority . The other is good, and represents joy, peace, love, tolerance, understanding, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, and compassion. This same fight is going on inside you, inside every other person too."

The grandson then asked: "Which wolf will win?" The old man replied simply: "The one you feed." Anonymous.
...
A new English word: "Religism:" bigotry based on religious belief.

Religious Hatred

Stop feeding the evil in yourself, because it will grow and consume you. Please let it go. This isn't what your God wants from you. God is Love. Not Hate.

I find it extremely peculiar, that the OP author throws out such a polarized, controversial and confrontational subject as this thread, and then practically speaking makes a disappearance act.

It's very similar in subject, style and 'tactics' to recent extremist-christian threads. I strongly suspect, that we see a 'famous last stand' approach with the only purpose of 'going down' with as much noise as possible.

It has been suggested in another recent thread, that extremist-christians now are organizing themselves in structured campaigns. I can partly believe that, because the immediate ridicule and anti-christian sentiments following from this elitist ideological fascism can't serve any direct purpose.

A 'lone wolf'' or 'master-minding'. As seen from a bird's eye perspective....??

I don't know, it seems so over-the-top ridiculous, that I'd suspect trolling before any sort of organized campaign. I've seen a couple of very specific Jehovah's Witness threads that give the appearance of intention, but that's probably because I haven't seen any before, and now a couple in as many days. Beyond that, it just seems like singular people ranting on distant edge ideologies.

Preaching extremist views on ATS seems an exercise in futility... heck, a lot of the time, I think preaching conventional views on ATS is an exercise in futility.

First Amendment fail.

Hey, guess what, I live in a country with blasphemy laws. It's stupid. There isn't a damn good argument in favor of them.

I'm sorry, but this isn't a theocracy. If you want to live in a theocracy, go found one somewhere else.

Ad, whatever hard words there have been between you and me, I would on the spot 'side' with you and other non-elitist christians, if I ever suspected any ANTI-christian maneuvers disguised as PRO-christian arguments.

Such methods are below contempt, no matter who uses them.

Thanks for the link. It lead me to an 'error-something-or-another' destination, which I in my endless computer-incompetence can't find meaning in.

Though quick emergence and disappearance of 'trouble-makers' on ATS (and elsewhere) could be a significant symptom of ......something. I'm not specialist-familiar with the finer points of the web-forum-debating world.

Can the same person flit in and out under new names; just like that, e.g. after being banned?

Yeah, apparently his thread was 404'd (deleted) by the staff. He has not been banned though.

I don't know what to make of him, except that maybe he was angry and riled up by something and went on a multi-thread tirad... then he got his senses about him and left. But that's just supposition.

I'm hoping he realized that his blind hatred couldn't possibly be judged as a Good Thing by the loving God in whose name he speaks, and so he decided to find his way back to the understanding, love and compassion that are cornerstones of what the Christian religion is supposed to be. If threads like this serve to bring this kind of thing to light, or to make someone question their beliefs, then I guess they might serve a purpose, after all...

Good luck to the OP.

Your thread made me blaspheme. Several times. You despise homosexuals and want blasphemers put in jail for 30 years. How do you reconcile this, knowing that Jesus and Peter and sometimes Judas were gay lovers?

I am saddened to see such intolerance. Seriously, "blasphemy" is subjective. Is it blasphemy to call a Wiccan Goddess a bad name? Is it blasphemy to call Buddha something awful? Where is this "blasphemy?"

If it is relative to one religion's concepts, it is an evilness to promote. It saps Humans of their freedom, and places certain ones "above" others. No, my dear, this would be a HUGE step backwards in the efforts to promote love, tolerance and open-mindedness.

When are these die hard Christians going to wake up? Why even come to this board if all you have to offer is more religious dogma? Many of us here know better. And I guess your god has Weapons of Mass Destruction, because it was a nuclear blast that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Check this:
Sodom and Gomorrah meet Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Ancient Atomic Warfare

The only "Gods" present were Enki and and his crowd, Annunaki. Do some research and stop believing everything you hear in church.
