Booting live Linux distros from partion on cell phones and and other devices?

I was wondering if this is now possible and if not when? I think it would be awesome to be able plug in your mobile device into any pc and boot any linux distro. Also from there you could run Virtual Box and boot Windows.

I'm a phone tech and I don't know if what you want to do is possible but webOS is Linix based. This might be a good place to look for more info. www.webos-internals.org...

It can be done. can be tricky too.

Perhaps with a distribution that is more cloud-centric, like Jolicloud?
I don't know, just tossing out an idea. If you figure this out, please share.

Thanks for the link very cool I guess I was hoping to use the phone as a usb drive and boot the distro like that never the less great vid.

Jolicloud I recall seeing that on revision3 very clean, simple system would like to see some thing like this on cell phones not a huge fan of the cloud. Though maybe some one could dual boot android and Jolicloud on their phone that would be cool.

You can run Linux from a Flash drive or CD, and if there is a way to use your phone as a Flash drive then that should work.

Why not? You can add external memory to some cell phones.
