Nope it's none of those ......it's a woman in a 1940's raincourt walking away from the camera and holding a handbag to her right. Could be a ghost methinks!

The photo is of such poor quality that a) there will never be any definitive conclusion from the photo alone and b) unless you are able to go back to that spot and either discover the mundane explanation for the "object" or can get a corroborating photo/video of the "apparition", nothing will ever come of this.

That may be true, but there is no reason for us not to question the OP and try to find an explanation. I think the questions he will pose to the photographer will give us much more to think about, and debate on.

Woody, excellent posts and great insight. I hope the OP does give us some history of the area and perhaps tell us what is close by? Was this picture taken near known sites that could be haunted? Is this just some country road or just outside a town?

Even though the picture is poor, the idea is to follow whatever we may have and try to add to it.

Nice call on the dog, I was concentrating so hard on what looks like the woman figure I missed that.

That shape does come out in my filtering of the original image as well. It's still not as good as the OP's but something is there.

It is interesting that the place where you can see the dog figure is just as light as the woman figure. It does stand out.

Of course, my opinions on this are still out.

When I see pictures like this, I first think, ok, what is the rational explanation and have we exhausted them? We haven't yet, so I am not going to call this a ghost yet.

Got the answers:

- Did you ever used the flash, and if not, why?
- About the flash, I have frankly no idea ... it was full dark if I remember correctly, and then we photograph in a totally random way ... to be honest I do not remember it very well.
- Could it be possible to have a daylight photography of the exact location?
- I'm in Thailand actually, but, yes, this is possible and I'll do so as soon as I'll be back
- Have you ever heard of any odd old stories over there?
- No I have no informations about this

The area have a rich history, with a roman road and monasteries, chapels, all around from the mid-ages.

Most Americans are not in a position to know what normal activity may be happening along a narrow French road in that country. That said, it looks to me like a human figure, likely a man, carrying on his back a round, barrel-like object on his shoulders with each white-clad arm reaching up to hold the object. The object is very similar in size and in relationship to the figure to that of half of a 55 gal. drum.

To me it looks like somebody on a racing bicyle. That's how they ride, with their head down parallel to their arse almost.

That's what I think it is, no ghost. I think you're hoaxing.

It look like someone who is holding is head under his arm. Maybe as we are in France some one who as been beheaded(guillotine)??
But to be honest, on the original picture, the sky is far too bright for the photo to be taken after midnight..Even in June

I agree with the head thing although for some reason to me, it looks like a robot.

I thought it looked like Elvis in a white jumpsuit.
Did the king have ties to France?

I actually have a more convincing pic of a ghost apparition in a pic. It was our class pic during our field trip when I was still in college. The ghost inserted himself in the pic. I will post it once I found it.

You can check the EXIF datas, it was taken at 00:12:21 2010 June 13rd and I can say that in no way it have been faked.
I personally know the OP and he's a very nice and honest guy; the idea of faking a photography doesn't make sense at all in the context....

Some said that seems like someone on a bike, but I'm not sure as the ratios doesn't add up IMO.

Hey there vschz,

I'm guessing that your comment about the sky being too bright to have been taken after midnight means you haven't clicked the link to view the original pic so I'm adding the original and the brightened version for you to compare ... then you will see that the sky was in fact dark at the time the pic was taken;

I was thinking the same thing Woody. Even if it is the middle of the night, there will be some sort of ambient light in the sky from a far off town, the moon and stars, etc.
