Ok so I'm not sure how many of you would be interested in this since it happened so long ago but I figure it's unique. When I was little my dad always told me this UFO story that he experienced while camping. As I recall it, In 1990 my mother who was pregnant with me at the time and my dad went camping in northern Arizona about 70 miles from flagstaff. This location is quite deep into the mountains we always took the less taken trail. They were sleeping in there tent when my dad awoke to what he thought was maybe the sun or something. When he stepped out he was blinded by 3 extremely bright lights coming from something floating about 50 feet directly above, he had heard all the local stories of the entire area being notorious for sightings and abductions. So, he ran back in the tent to grab his rifle not knownig what to expect, as soon as he grabbed his gun, it was dark again. He thought he might be having a really strange dream so he went back to sleep. When they awoke the next morning he told her the story, she didn't believe him until they stepped outside. There were 3 perfectly raised mounds of dirt almost 3 feet tall were outside the tent almost as if 3 magnets had tried to grab the dirt. My dad took me there after finally finding it again in 2002, they had camped within an old cattle coral, probably over 100 years old, I remeber getting this really odd uneasy feeling I couldn't really explain it. However it's a strange story so enjoy.

May I ask, have you ever tried going back to the area with a magnet? It might be an idea to go back and see if anything in the area still has magnetic properties.

Although I respect the human gut instinct, I also have a healthy respect for psychology. Its very likely that your feeling was bought on by having heard this story a number of times as a lad, and having your subconcious mind nibbling at your concious mind , saying things like " Do you REALLY know that you are safe here? Dont you remember what you have been told? NO? Well Im gonna give you an unusual sensation, JUST to stop you hanging out here too much!!" The affairs of the mind are strange indeed !

Bring a camera and take photo's too. Maybe a few years back they came there to resupply on cow innards that were scrumptious and realized that it was a no go.

Perhaps you would agree with me then, that the best thing OP can do at this point is to get out in the field and get some data? I would second any motion for a closer and more detailed look at this area.

To the OP , I really urge you to go back to the location. You are in a unique position of knowing the location of a strange occurance, and it not being cordoned off .... I would take every possible oppertunity to go there and really have a good look around and a thorough set of photograps taken of the area, preferably with your dad so that you can ask him what he saw, where he stood, what was where on the night in question.
You are the one with access to the story and to the location, its up to you to record everything you can about the place and the incident, and collate it all into a veiwable format... when this is done, we can talk about it till the cows come home, but without that clarity and availability of reference, we may find any discussion will be almost too speculative to actualy be of any use !

I agree, unfortunately I was only about 11 at the time and barely remember the location. In 2003 Arizona we had a fit of wildfires and much of that area burned down. Although I'd still like to go back and see if I can find traces of radiation and such. I highly doubt it would have been any sort of magnet due to the fact that there is no magnetism in the dirt there, if I go back i'll be sure to post my findings.

I agree with you Brit, it isn't every day you meet someone who has knowledge of - and access to - an unexplained story and actual location of the event.

Maybe JohnCreed can ask his father to return to the location once again and get a complete work up of the area. I would even go as far as taking soil samples and getting the details from your father and draw them out in an attempt to re-create the location on that night as closely as possible. Maybe, if it eats at you long enough, you will want to get the soil tested for any type of abnormalities.

Might even be worth taking a metal detector to the site and searching for any out of place material that could have been left behind.

It wouldn't hurt to have all this information, even for personal information.
