What is Meritocracy?
Like any system or political orientation, Meritocracy is a way of thought.
It is a social system tailored to the individual, it's not about fitting you into a cubicle, forcing you to conform and making you work for someone
else's dream. It's about giving you the power and means to allow you to accomplish what YOU want to do, not what others want you to do.
All that is expected of you is to be yourself, to become the fullest expression of who you are.
What is the difference between a Meritocracy and Democracy?
In theory and intention, democracy and meritocracy are the same thing bar the fact that Meritocracy demands and emphasizes that the government be
ruled by skilled and responsible people - those who actually know what they are doing.
Actually, let me rephrase that - Those who know how to govern responsibly, not just stuff your money into their pockets.
If the environmental branch of the government undergoes an election, in a Meritocracy, it is the biologists, ecologists, permaculture specialists and
other environmental specialists that are elected into office - not slick, silver tongued politicians.
How do we make sure the government stays responsible?
Scrutiny - as of today, the government hides all their decisions, obscures their motives and goals and then uses the media to distract you from the
issues.
A few good examples are keeping the political TV channels out of mainstream popularity, only reporting the implements and not all the decisions (Like
building a 3 billion dollar bridge without giving anyone much notice as to why, or if it's even necessary).
A very good example, is the G20 World Summit being hosted during the Fifa World Cup - when everyone has their eyes fixed on a sporting event.
Do any of you know what goes on in a G20 Summit? I don't but if they really were making decisions in your interest why would they need to hide them
from you?
For all you know, the G20 could be a 950 million dollar S&M club with a prevailing fetish for ridiculously high price tags (Isn't that a real elitist
fetish anyway?).
Instead of hiding the issues, by law, a meritocratic democracy makes it so that all government spending, all decisions are made public and subject to
public scrutiny. If you as a leader is making irresponsible decisions, your decisions can be subject to referendum and veto by the people, and in
it's most extreme, those irresponsible can be removed from power before they have the chance to do more harm.
But how do we know that this isn't subject to abuse?
Like any system it has it's flaws, that is why in a Meritocracy, education is emphasized.
Becoming an informed, intelligent and unique individual with a truly informed opinion and perspective are paramount in a meritocratic education
system.
Imagine a whole generation of children that grow up without parental, religious and commercial brainwashing, poverty, abuse and illness.
That this whole generation grows up in an educational system tailored to making them truly individual in and of themselves, truly educated in all of
the arts and sciences, where their development as a human is emphasized - not just treating the children like automobiles on an assembly floor but
taking the time to build up each and every child's unique skills and talents.
This is an education system where their development as a real person is emphasized, not their job as a consumer.
Can you imagine that? The world can be transformed in one generation and all that stands in the way is your lack of intelligence, apathy and the
excessive greed and power-mongering politics of the existing world governments.
One way or another, we all have something we can contribute to making this world better by making ourselves better as individuals.
Are you ready to step up to the plate and make a change?
Are you ready for Meritocracy?
