Iranian Naval Vessels Enter Suez Canal

www.military.com

February 22, 2011
Associated Press
CAIRO -- Two Iranian naval vessels entered the Suez Canal on Tuesday en route to Syria, officials said, the first time in three decades that Tehran has sent military ships through the strategic waterway.

Canal officials said the ships -- a frigate and a supply vessel -- are expected to reach the Mediterranean later in the day.

Israel has made clear it views the passage as a provocation, but Israeli officials had no immediate comment Tuesday.

Iran made good on its promise to send naval vessels through the Suez Canal for the first time since the Camp David Peace Accords were signed just after the Iranian Revolution.

Its an interesting development to the fast changing and heavily challenged status quo in the Middle East as Iran sends a warship and a supply ship to Syria for military exercises there, strengthening alliances, and possibly forging some new ones threw Egypt as it plunked down a heft 300,000.00 USD to transverse the canal.

Despite its previous saber rattling the Israeli Government so far has not commented.

It will be interesting to see what if any developments occur between now and when the Iranian Ships make their return trip presumably through the Canal back to Iran when the training exercise is over.

Why would that be the right thing, because the Iranian Navy is prone to shooting up and pirating international aide ships?

Oh wait that's the Israeli navy that does that.

My bad.

honestly, I find this statement shocking. I can't understand how one dares to use the words "the right thing" in a sentence that basically implies an act of war.
As it is utterly unclear what will be put in place of the regimes that are falling over there as we speak, I can understand Israeli leaders to be nervous - although some trust should be put from the initial statements of the Egyptian army (their intention to honor agreements, including the peace treaty with Israel). If however they would act as is being suggested in the quote, that would be another morally wrong act of aggression.

This certainly seems as though the Iranians are poking a stick at Israel with this recent naval transit through the Suez Canal? I am somewhat surprised why the Israeli government have remained largely silent over this latest move by the Iranian regime as well. With all the political upheaval taking place on Israel's doorstep with commotions in countries like Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan; it seems Israel may have its hands full anticipating the fallout from that?

Furthermore, Iran must have saw these developments as a window of opportunity to navigate the canal for the first since 1979, and this is something like a dry run to gauge the Israel/US response.Or maybe Israel is handling his latest occurrence in a covert fashion instead of an overt one with saber rattling and all the barking we have seen in the past. The ships are said to be headed for a port call in Syria, and that country is at odds with Israel as is Iran. I am curious to know what the contents may be on these vessels? Weapons, military advisers, or some other alliance strengthening endeavors? I wonder what is going to be the next port of call for the Persian Love Boats? The Israeli silence is quite interesting, because I thought they would be raising a serious stink over this one.

There might be a very disturbing reason for that.

According to an embedded MS Word document found in one of the HB Gary emails, it involves creating an army of sockpuppets, with sophisticated "persona management" software that allows a small team of only a few people to appear to be many, while keeping the personas from accidentally cross-contaminating each other. Then, to top it off, the team can actually automate some functions so one persona can appear to be an entire Brooks Brothers riot online.

www.dailykos.com...:-The-HB-Gary-Email-That-Should-Concern-Us-All

Meet the new, new world order democracy and majority, defence department software to dominate topics that deal with sensitive matters of state and war.

Believe it or not, this software might even be what is causing so many Arabs to revolt right now as a false majority on social media and message boards creates an illusion that people are thinking differently than they actually are.

The information and propaganda wars have taken a whole new turn for the worse.

Honestly Jakes there is a bizarre numbers game at play right now as a wave of popularism sweeps the Middle East.

Because of the dishonest nature of the mainstream media, we might not know just how much of this unrest is actually anti-American (people upset that their governments are in bed with us) and or anti-Israel (people upset about the continued plight of the Palestinians).

With so many people mobilizing across the area, and so many governments under pressure, governments who's weapons of mass destruction could fall into the hands of new more determined elements, the Status Quo could radically shift in the Middle East.

Iraq previously played a key central role as in the early 80's the CIA theorized that Saddams Army was large enough if combine with any three other Arab states Israel would not be able to stand up to the combined onslaught.

It is in large part why so much time and effort was taken to whittle down Saddams forces piecemeal, through the Iran/Iraq war, through the 1st Persian Gulf War, then the decade of stinging Emargos and then Finally Operation Just Cause and Iraqi freedom.

Unless I miss my guess, both the United States and Israel right now are likely pulling back forces, consolidating them, and going into defensive mode, in case this situation (which we really don't know the whole truth of and aren't going to) over there really explodes.

It's definately not the time for provocative acts on Israel or the U.S. Governments part in my humble opinion.

Thanks for posting my friend.

International aid ships .. LOL ... how hard did you laugh when you typed that? Would these aid ships be carring the same cargo as the MV Iran Deyanat?

They were stalled long enough for intelligence to be gathered and for it to be determined to be no threat.

Just a provocative stunt, and the Israelis are wise not to take the bait.

Hopefully, this will become a regular "Iranian provocation" and Israel has to withdraw all it's spy's in America to watch military exercises.
Watch for a sudden drop in Israeli "art student" and moving van losers...

I guess the right thing for the Iranian's to do would to be to sink Israel's subs off their coast.

You are an utter fool. You'd like to see war in the Middle East? I'll tell you something. If SHTF over there, you won't an armchair general. You can bet that conflict will grow so intense and big that conscription is likely to be reinstated and you will not be excluded.

There are very serious interests at stake and it wouldn't surprise me if China would be dragged into that war eventually. Why? Because China cannot afford economic stagnation - have you ever thought of the reasons behind their iron rule? They have experienced multiple revolutions throughout their history and the chance of that happening again is a very plausible one. During the economic crisis of 2008 (which is not over yet), many Chinese companies went bankrupt or were forced to fire people - protests started immediately. Imagine that they run out of oil... or the World economy in general for that matter. Chaos would start immediately.

Here is what you likely don't want to get mike, by International Treaty every warship in the world has the right to use the Suez Canal.

Every Navy in the world from the U.S.A's to Britans, to Israel's to China's to Russia's to Cuba's conducts joint exercises with other nations.

What's on a warship is not as relevant as what's used on a warship, for instance the Aegis Command and Control System on a U.S. Destoryer that 'accidentally' shot down an Iranian Airlines Passenger Jet years ago killing nearly 300 civilians.

Of course that was only an 'accident' but the truth is that the Iranian Navy is not the beligerent force that the U.S. and Israeli Navy is.

The Israeli's yes very much having fired on, pirated, killed innocent aide workers, in a brutal act of violating international law and laws of the sea.

I can appreciate you have likely been programed by the mainstream media and the lying politicians to the point of being a closed circuit, but here on ATS we probe issues just a bit deeper than the Bubble Headed Bleach Blond that comes on at 5:00.

Thanks.

Wow yea those automated persona bots do seem like a good cause for such a use. I mean msnbc.com is a very popular site for news and a lot of the top comments, they try to hid them.

They will heading to Gaza. The supplyship carries aid for the Palestinians, the warship will defend it against the Israelis who try to stop this Iranian fleet. War will follow between the 2 countries and the manipulated uproar in the Arabic world will be an excuse for those countries (changed regimes) to back up Iran and fight Israel.
Just some good old NWO chessplay: no oil, no economy, no dollar, no nothing.

or

Nothing happens
