Scientists: Sun's approaching 'Grand Cooling" assures new Ice Age!

www.helium.com

February 18, 2011: NASA and the ESA agree, and so does the Russian space agency, Roscosmos—the sun is headed for a Grand Solar Minimum and a Grand Cooling will commence.

The aptly named Grand Cooling is exactly what it implies: the sun is going to cool. That cooling will also cool off the Earth. It will last from 30 to 50 years.

Al Gore was sure wrong! The Earth isn't going to warm, it's going to get colder. Much colder. So cold a little or full-blown Ice Age will ensue. As a matter of fact, some scientists claim we're already in the early stages of an Ice Age.

Dutch Professor Cees de Jager, a prominent astronomer and solar expert, forcefully asserts that we the world is indeed entering for a long period of very low solar activity. The professor and his colleagues are certain Earth is heading for a "long Grand Minimum"—defined as either a Solar Wolf-Gleissberg or a Maunder Minimum—"not shorter than a century." His 2010 paper, "The forthcoming Grand Minimum of solar activity," outlined the extended period of time that the diminished solar radiation would affect the Earth.

We don't really know what the sun will do tomorrow so how do we know this??
It's a little odd.

The Bilderberg group seems to think 'Global Cooling' is worth talking about at their little meetings.
So I guess it's something worth paying attention to.

The 58th Bilderberg Meeting will be held in Sitges, Spain 3 – 6 June 2010. The Conference will deal mainly with Financial Reform, Security, Cyber Technology, Energy, Pakistan, Afghanistan, World Food Problem, Global Cooling, Social Networking, Medical Science, EU-US relations.

i am really loosing confidence in today's scientists

solar maximum??
solar minimum???
solar cycle 24 will be weak??
solar cycle 24 will be doom??
sun rays are good for you!!
sun rays are bad for you!!!
the sun is the same as ever!!
the sun is brighter than ever!!!

Yes, I have to agree, we have experienced a Solar minimum in the past with no extreme winters as a result, actually, quite the opposite..... confusing?

Lets talk about this after the impending solar maximum in the next two years shall we? One problem at a time.

What baffles me more than anything. On one hand you have scientists, warning off Global Warming. Now you have scientists warning of an Ice Age.
Who is correct here. Is it GlobalWarming first then Ice Age 2nd or is it Ice Age First and then Globalwarming 2nd. See how confusing this is all becomming

I have noticed, Al Gore's biggest failure (or magic trick) was that, while he correctly used the Vostok Ice Core data to link CO2 levels with global temperatures, he neglected the rest of that study that indicated CO2 levels actually Lagged global temperatures by 800 +/- 200 years. In stead they claim the opposite, such a convenient tool for rolling out the carbon tax. Biggest propaganda crap package of this century!

While I do believe we can count on our Earth's history to give us an idea on what to expect; this is getting a little ridiculous already.

I heard a while back that we are due for a cooling down period. Our CO2 emissions were actually staving off a new ice age. So we reduced our carbon emissions and now we are getting cold? Was this group of scientists right? Did they all study under the liberal public school system?

Regardless of whether or not we are getting hotter OR colder, Eden cannot remain ideal for us forever. Earth's history proves this.

Didn't you get the memo? Global warming is now global climate change. Stupid CO2! How dare it influence the sun!

I can just share my experience of how the winters have been in Sweden (Stockholm) as I've been growing up. In the late 80s, we'd have "proper winters" here, with plenty of snow and temperatures reading between -15 and -20 C.

Now considering that our geographic location is at (longitude - 59.15-59.30 degrees North) which interprets to roughly 2/3 of the way from the equator to the northpole -- it's SUPPOSED to be cold here during the winters.

But interestingly towards the 90s and early 21st century, the winters just became milder and milder. Winter would come later and where a "proper Swedish winter" was supposed to mean 4 months of snow atleast - we would only have sooooome snow during January or February and then the springsun taking over and warming up everything, once again.

However in the past 3-4 years or so, all that seemed to indicate global warming has now faded with the recent years of increasingly colder and longerlasting winters.

Temperature records and the duration of winters have been broken. There has also been the surprising cases of snowfall and freezing temperatures in places like New Delhi and even in some parts of the U.S. where snow is supposed to be unheard of (am I right???).

Though I love snow and don't mind some cold, if it's truly a matter of our sun, reducing it's radiation output and we're headed towards a semi-iceage for a few decades then the world will face a lot of troubles with regard to agriculture. Many could risk both starving and freezing to death.

Its not fun if ya in the middle of High and Low Fronts...which are fighting to get the upper Hand all the Time

I have been saying this for over 2 years! I have to go back and find all my previous posts. Weather patterns have been similar to what was described during the 1700's in the U.S. Weather along our NorthEast was more similar to Canada back then, and Florida was not subtropical at the time. Freezing temperatures and snow were common much farther south, it was a mini iceage that lasted about 50 to 75 years during that century. Washington's army nearly froze to death at Valley Forge.

Little Ice Age Wiki

Science is just observation, and we are all capable of observation. Reknowned scientists are extremely cautious in their releases, but they see the same things we all see, they just don't comment on it until they are entirely sure.

the sun cools down , chemtrails cool down even further the earth , BUT earth will move closer to the sun , mars will take earth "place /orbit" , and everybody lives happily ever after!
EXCEPT THE [snip] REPTILIANS WHO WILL BURN TO THE LAST ONE!

I would like to state that I would be proud to spend my last bit of energy just before freezing to death, beyotch slapping just one of the GW pinheads that spent the last 4 years on ATS talking about how "Climate change is going to kill us all, we have to start having sex with trees!"

It would be a happy death.

Irony of ironies if the greenhouse gasses keep enough heat in to help mitigate the effects of a cooling sun, plus we'll need the SUVs to drive through all the snow and ice.

For those of us who never bought in to the sham that was "Global Warming" in the first place, this is something that scientists expected was going to happen anyway, so I recall. Natural cycles of cooling/warming.
It's just that some politicians thought they could make extra dough by adding an extra 'event' inbetween!

Thanks for the confirmation.

I say WHO CARES. If an Ice Age occurs there's not much we can do about it no? I'm getting tired of all these doomsday warnings, from asteroids to Nibiru to weather changes.
