In summary, banks are not the enemy. Its the lack of regulation thanks to Government (Clinton and Bush, and both parties in congress) that have allowed the banks to get away from their legitimate purpose.

I get it, but its not that simple. For example, sports cars aren't built because bankers want us to go into debt. They are built because people desire them. People go into debt to buy them because its easier than saving up to buy one. Say a nice $30,000 car costs about $600 a month for 60 months to finance if you put nothing down. If you put away $600 a month for 50 months, you would have the money to buy the car outright, but you would have to wait four years to buy the car put you wouldn't pay any interest.
While the banks are thieves, its not when it comes to simple consumer loans. They are thieves when manipulating the investment markets, or when they charge exorbitant interest rates for credit. But if they loan a person money at a reasonable interest rate, they help provide the engine to our economy.
In summary, banks are not the enemy. Its the lack of regulation thanks to Government (Clinton and Bush, and both parties in congress) that have allowed the banks to get away from their legitimate purpose.

Yeah, they are in rich people's pockets, but its not just bankers. There are rich oil people, rich doctor lobbies, rich manufacturing people, rich military research people.
My point isn't that Bankers are all good. My point is that banks in general are a good thing that have been manipulated into a bad thing, and it is our politicians' fault. Our politicians should be in our collective pockets, but there isn't enough intelligent people out there to really force an honest and open conversation about reforming the government. Lobbies should be illegal, all campaigns should be financed out of a public pot, there should be no political contribution to any campaign, and anyone caught taking under the table money should be tried for treason.
I'm sorry US Supreme Court, Corporations are not people and should have first amendment rights.

Actually people don't desire sports cars. The desire for sports cars is created by advertising.
