"Tonight we will dine in Hell!!!"

Already some operators and even the FBI HRT are wearing these helmets. Cool design, but I don't think anybody is going to wear that configuration unless on a vehicle perhaps.

Very nice. Never heard of this company before. I like their pads integrated with their clothing as well.

Thanks for the video Delta. That was interesting.

The style is very Greco-Roman that's for sure.

Also I wonder what it would look like with a really cool mirror-visor over the face?

It's almost like the old GI Joe cartoon/comics were accurate in a lot of ways.

The Cobra soldiers always did look way cooler.
cobra viper

It's the 3rd picture down. It looks VERY SIMILAR.

I wonder what other predictions GI Joe made that are actually gonna come true?

Vehicle Crews, probably. Mechanized Infantry, maybe. Light Infantry, probably not. The total kit looks like it would be detrimental to the situational awareness of a soldier on foot patrol.

Definitely very cool! I'm all for anything offering additional safety to our men and women overseas.

At first when I saw the title about Spartans, I immediately thought of Halo Spartans, and thought this was going to be a thread about the exoskeletons that the military is developing:

I saw something more recently that I believe was an even more advanced exoskeleton. I also was reading about some talk of using microturbines as a power source to make the exoskeleton completely independent, instead of having to rely on a tether for power.

Very cool stuff! Master Chief style us soldiers could be a reality sooner than we think maybe

I don't care for the rear seam. Murphy's law say's it will catch bullets from behind, that will go straight to the brain.
IMHO

I can't see me wearing that face thing in any situation other than CQB.

I hate wearing a helmet anyways I always felt restrained. Sad truth is one of the reasons I chose to go SF was so I could get out of the Kevlar Army. Then realized when I wasn't forces to wear one 24/7 for no reason I actually saw the utitlity in wearing it for direct combat operations and did so religiously. I think it was a case of hating it so much I couldn't be objective.

Protective gear has a time and a place but the regular Infantry treated the Kevlar helmet like some sort of damned holy device that had to be worn regardless of need. It was so bad that during the first Gulf War I refused to run an errand to the 82 nd’s base because we had to stay overnight and the division commander had dudes wearing the Kevlar with their damn PT gear! So idiotic!

I feel like this is a minor improvement to their armor. I think they have "better" types of armor but they will never see the light of day because they are way too overpriced for standard military operations with marines or infantry units.

"This is madness! This is preoccupation of our lands!"

"THIS...IS....AMERICA!!!"

*Spartan kicks (ambassador of random country) off the helipad into the streets below*

I couldn't resist, sorry. Really cool helmet though.

I don't think these two are the same, but if it is there's nothing minor about it:

After a first round of test failures in 2009, the Army has finally found a design made by Ceradyne, Inc. that works -- so well, officials say, that some types of 7.62 rifle rounds can be fired point-blank at the helmet without going through.

www.military.com...

I snatched this from another current thread in this section, these will probably end up competing.. but if these 'spartan' type helmets aren't as resilient I don't see them standing much of a chance.

But I agree that they probably do have some crazy armour that is just too valuable, expensive or too high-tech to even disclose.

Something old is something new again!

I'm pretty sure ancient warriors didn't just add cheek pieces to their helmets to make them look cool. The reason had to be totally functional.

Actually surprised it took helmet designers this long to "invent" the idea again.

Wonder when helmet designers will decide to "invent" a neck guard, as well?

Funny you mention GI Joe...I have been watching the old GI Joe cartoons lately with my kid...and it surprises me how far ahead of the curve they were with their technology.

It's crazy how many things in those cartoons are now a reality and considered "high tech"...or even considered "future tech".

And yes...Cobra uniforms and vehicles were always cooler than GI Joe.

Except for Snake Eyes (but he's still got the whole snake-theme going, so maybe he doesn't count.
