UFO February 12th 2011 Mendocino California. [HOAX]

I just came across this, I didnt see it posted here, but I only typed the headline in ATS. If it is, I apologize. This is the only UFOish video on this youtube authors channel... I recommend to watch it in HD on youtube in full screen, they don't really zoom in. Author claims they thought is was a airplane reflecting sunlight, but now they are not so sure about it. It does look like "something" is reflecting, but there are other lights or reflections around it. Pretty neat

These people, judging by the youtube site, don't seem like the type to hoax, let alone produce ufo videos. They also, seem like...I am guess late 40's to 50's age type, and seem like the innocent type. I like the fact that it is in daylight, as opposed to all the crummy night shots. The lights seem to move quite fast towards the end before they disappear.

Nothing to worry about.. This happens when swamp gas and weather balloons mix together.

Just kidding, it looks like it's some sort of "Morphing" Aircraft? It could be just reflection.. But other than that.. It could be anything. Nice find, OP.

That is a great video, especially mid way to the end. I would say it reflecting its own light, but towards the end it just gets so bright and then they just disappear lol. Cool video, can't wait to hear some of the conclusions people will come to

Excellent find OP, doesn't look like an airplane to me. Wouldn't it have moved across the sky or overhead by 1:46 mins or so if it was an airplane?

Right before it disappears, you can see part of it separate again and climb vertically. lol the name also appealed to me.

Haha. Really don't know what it could be in fact. Very strange looking, reminded me of some of the sundog images I have seen in the past, but it is isolated and the sundogs I have seen in the past are not so isolated, nor do they move as much as this did.

Did you notice anything on the ground below it, in the video?

Have you tried to contact the author/original owner of the video to see if they could give more detail?

What do you think it is?

Considering the sun is above in the direction of this sighting, my initial guess is reflected sunlight off of several aircraft - since there are multiple reflections, then possibly a group of fighter jets practicing some formation flying? See how they one-by-one at the end go up and then disappear?

Something about that light just seems like reflected sunlight - not light generated by a UFO.

Of all the places!

I am from Mendocino County, 21 years ( as in, my whole life) - I have seen many strange things in the night sky, but during the day?

I even recognize those mountains, in between Navarro and Philo.

Rumors have it that there is a base over the hills (east) from the coast from my current location. My mother lives north of me, only 7 miles from town, she sees strange lights every other night very similar to this.

I noticed several lights, making this certain video not just a coincidence for myself but also very "unidentifiable".

My area, Mendo County, has also been the victim to "offshore military testing" - which no locals have been privy to knowing anything about - trust me I've digged. Yet regardless this sighting is from the East.

There are two small airports in this area, and I can assuredly tell you that this was no plane (that I have seen, considering we only see small private planes in that close vicinity, as far as I know.).

Beautiful evidence, what could that be? What known aircraft shoots a light upwards like that? Why on earth would ANY aircraft be firing a "quickly dissipating flare" up into a rural area such as my damn county?

Didn't see anything on ground in video. I did see something lit up on mountain almost below it but it stayed stationary and remained there after lights in sky left.

Have not yet attempted to contact YouTube member, it is two in morning eastcoast time here, 11:00 pm there if they are still in California.

Have not came to a conclusion as to what it may be at the moment. Begining of video, I thought light reflecting off of plane. Then that all changed, with the surrounding lights and the way it moved back together and seperated before disappearing. Still stumped at the moment. You theory on sun dog is plausible, but like you said the movement is what doesnt fall in line with that. Pictures I have seen of sundogs usually have seemed more spread out to my recollection.

Had to be one of the best UFO vids ive seen in a while. Judging from their reactions, and since they are adults, this is the real deal...

Now, what could it be........

Btw, I always make an internal bet w myself to see how long it takes for someone to joke with a "swamp gas" comment. I'm always within the first five posts. Its not funny, and not original.....I roll my eyes every time someone even makes the joke about it. It gets posted on every frigging UFO thread, so no, you aren't being creative.

Ok, glad you think so.....care to elaborate on what YOU think they are then, instead of posting a comment without a complete thought?

Yes this is a pretty good video. Whether it's ours or theirs is hard to say.

One thing that stands out a bit is that the audio is slightly slowed down. By 5-10% maybe. That can happen sometimes in the encoding process. I am not sure what the original video format was.

I'll be telling folks about this tomorrow.
