That was my first thought too, but I think even a tiny amount of VX (drops) would wipe out city blocks. But everything I know about it is from The Rock (with Nicolas Cage/Sean Connery).

SAN FRANCISCO -- Four people were hospitalized after someone sprayed pepper spray at an entrance of the Powell Street Muni station in San Francisco this evening, a spokesman said.
Someone sprayed pepper spray for unknown reasons at about 6:20 p.m. at one of the Powell Street entrances to Muni, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman Paul Rose said.
No one was seriously injured, but two station agents and two bystanders were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. An additional two were sprayed but did not need to go to the hospital, Rose said.
Rose could not say if any arrests were made. A police spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

Why do they take these people to a hospital for pepper spray. Since when did burning eyes become an emergency medical situation.. geez.

so turn off the alarm? why would they say unknown substance? then have to be taken to the hospital? over pepperspray

It would have to be somewhat chaotic for such a fuss. Perhaps they did not realize it was pepper spray at first and people just started screaming. Some people nowadays immediately think of the "T" word when tragedy strikes, particularly to a crowd AND at a subway system, then panic ensues, maybe.

Pepper spray is awful. It made me simultaneously want to expel my lung contents and gasp for air at the same time. I was only in the same room when a little bit was sprayed. I can't imagine actually being hit with a direct stream of the stuff.

Because the threat of terrorists have everyone jumping at shadows. I am sure people there were actually convinced that they were under chemical attack. Mail some baking powder to a politician, a fleet of emergency service personel would be summoned. For baking powder.

Yea I'm not sure either I emailed CNN and FOX Newsdesks and asked if they had any info maybe I'll get a response lol. Fox will say its the apocolypse and CNN will say its pepper spray

Yea a teaspoon would be enough to take out a few city blocks at least. I don't know why but ever since that incident I just haven't felt like they were being honest. Great line from the X-files. "The best way to hide a lie is between 2 truths"
