This is just speculation. Could the church have been founded by lustful men who wanted women to submit to them? They decided to use the threat of hell to scare women into submission. They then made it so women could not be priests or part of the churches hierarchy in order to keep women oppressed? I have no evidence to prove this its just a thought.

I thought the church was, in general, against sexual promiscuity.

Doesn't fly.

The church has been involved in some sketchy activity before.

In marriage the church teaches that women should submit to their husbands.

Not allowing women priests is not equal. No matter how anyone attempts to sugarcoat it. Its sexism by definition.

I agree but the foundation documents for the church (the bible) was actually quite fair (gender wise) in respect of the societies and cultures where it came from.

Some of its heroes were heroines, namely Miriam (Moses sister), Deborah (a prophetess and one of the Judges/Rulers of Israel), Ruth, Esther not to mention the Mary's. Oh, and also Jael (who pegged the General Sisera's head to the ground with a tent peg and put an end to his opression of the Israelites)!

Women have too many emotional impulses and lack of moralistic ideals than man. Men think with intent and use the part of their brain which allows well thought ideas and practical judgement.....Women do not.... Women use the part of their brain which acts on impulse and thinks first only with emotion.

This has been scientifically proven.
As well as in clinical studies

From my experience it is just the opposite. What you are saying is the same argument used against womens suffrage. Sexism is wrong. Period.

Its not sexism its just logic. Any your experiences dont compare to science. Also think of how women are impulses and bit*** when they are on their period. No more need of proof.

Not always. Did you know that the human being with the highest IQ ever was a woman (according to the Guiness Book of Records), Marilyn vos Savant.

And while some women are as you describe, some men are (as described in a song) "dumb as a box of hammers".

The attributes you describe have nothing to do with gender at all.

I think a better statement would be that some denominations, and men, have used the bible as an excuse to oppress women. And still do for that matter.

At the same time, the bible does record much about women being treated as second class citizens.

Sarah called Abraham "Lord".
It was the woman who first sinned.
Paul said he didn't allow a woman authority over a man.
A wife is to be submissive to her husband in the way the church is to Christ.

There are many more examples. Although I'm sure they can be rationalized away if someone were inclined to do so.

I am so glad you brought this up. Jesus dictated a book on the Creation. The Nicene Council, totally reworte the book of Genesis, with the soul purpose of demeaning women, because women owned property and were looked up to until they create the Christian religion, when the Emperor Constaintine order the Bishops to create the Christian Religion as the Rome Empires Religion, he went back to Rome and killed his wife and child, and never excepted the Christian Religion himself until he was on his death bed.
NOW HERE IS JESUS' STORY OF GENESIS AS TOLD:

Yes, its such a good thing men are so rational. So calm. So..............not impulsive.

How many more do you want? There are lots of examples.

Edit to add, the Mormon church sure seems to have an element of what you brought up in your OP. Of course I am biased. I really find that religion to be an insult to intelligence. Male or female.

The culture which the Bible came out of was essentially a society where women were bought and sold as wives and sex slaves.

The modern Christian idea of "monogamy" and "adultery" are entirely anachronistic (out of historical context) concepts; they are later additions to the Biblical faith. In the ancient culture which the Bible came from, a male could have as many wives and sex slaves as he could purchase; adultery was a private property offence; if one of the male's sex slaves merely followed her heart and her desire, both she and the person she had a relationship were executed, as were women who were not found to be virgins at the point of their marriage.

Women could also be taken captive as sex slaves during military campaigns. Really the Biblical faith is a savage reminder of a barbaric and brutal world and has no place in the modern world; the Jesus of the Gospels, contrary to popular opinion was hardly any better since he promoted strict adherence to the letter of the "Law and the Prophets" and predicted that the (Biblical) Law would never pass away until heaven and earth passed away; he was really an extremely primitive religious fanatic.

Numbers 31:7-18: "..Moses was furious with all the military commanders who had returned from the battle. "Why have you let all the women live?" he demanded. .... Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves."

Deuteronomy 20:10-14: "When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you."

The fact that there are still fanatics in the modern world who consider Moses and Jesus to be role models of "goodness" is simply a testimony to the savagery of the modern world and the malevolent effects of religious hypnosis and indoctrination.

The belief women should have large families is degrading. If the church had it's way women would have no control over their bodies. Women are not baby machines and it is time the church accept that. It's 2011, not 1311.
