Long long long story short I stepped out of a line for an xray scatter at an airport the other day, it was the first time I've had a TSA workers try
and force me into one of those or a patdown. I stepped out of the roped line, and into the next roped line, excused myself for being late for my
flight and stepped through the metal detector, which caused all sorts of hullaballoo including TSA workers diving at me like I'd pulled a gun and
knocking pylons over, and then getting yelled at and harassed when they realized there really wasnt much they could do?
Eventually a police officer came over, and talked to me and the TSA workers (who seemed to have power over the cop) and nothing happened and I laughed
and went on my way.
While they talked, I saw this screensaver on one of the TSA computers that flashed pictures with the following words, "BE COMPLACENT" (with a
picture of a superior officer doing what looked like teaching a new officer how to patdown) "BE FIRM" (with a picture of a an angry civilian, and a
TSA worker with their hands behind their backs, nazi style or something) "BE ALERT" (with a picture of a blurry crowd and TSA worker in the
background, looking alert) "BE A TEAM" (with a group of TSA workers with their arms crossed) there were some more positive ones like "BE
FRIENDLY" but they didn't stand out like the more .....unsettling ones.
Anyways, who are these TSA folk, they are all either non-white or old white men, and excuse me if I am a bit racist here but, at least in most of the
airports I go to, they are predominantly black or mexican, wear their outfits baggy and talk like they are in a gang or something male and female.
These people are completely unprofessional, unkind, and downright rude sometimes. Once in awhile I get a really friendly TSA worker, but that's not
the norm. My question is, who gets these TSA jobs? How do you apply? Where do they recruit etc? It seems like they are doing what they do with the
army, target middle to low income individuals, promise them a job, money, etc for being a law-enforcer.
Anyways, rant over, I hate the TSA.
