CERN tampering with earths magnetic field?

i feel the jury is out on this one until physical and instrumental observations are noted. until then i will carry on with the fascination. one to watch out for.

You do realise the effects of DU on soldiers and civilians out on the field. So, it penetrates armor better, big whoop. It's a biological nightmare.

I doubt that it would cause any serious problems. In all honesty, I've been staying away from ATS so much lately because everyone and their brother has been going "pole shift" insane. That's all you hear about anymore. Then when March comes and goes, and nothing happens (like usual) there will be some other disaster that will wipe out humanity or something. I'm honestly beginning to wonder if ATSers aren't just addicted to being scared. Maybe everyone feeds off the negativity, but it is getting old. Why can't there ever be any positive news? It's always doom and gloom. If a magnetic pole shift (not to be confused with a moving axis as SO many people do) is really going to happen, then I wish it would hurry up and go already, that way I can stop having to hear everyone going nuts over it.

I mention that because there's a hell of a lot of hype out there about:
" EGAD!: "Nuclear weapons" being used by our forces!!!!" by people ( usually young excitable liberals) with a : "the evil empire America sucks" agenda, and a hand full of pamphlets or a clipboard petition.The metal "beryllium" is also toxic when splattered or burned. but its not "NUCLEAR"!
So its not used to intentionally scare people!
All I 'm saying is D.U.'s purpose is create "penetration" not nuclear /biological effects as claimed by most protesters.....

Just what does that mean? Are you going to open the window; stick your head out and check up on the magnetic field? or search the net for fear hyped pseudo- Science blog postings to scare the proles?

I have to agree with the reply above ATS seems to deal in alot of fear induced adrenalin junkies. There's always a new monster coming down from the castle to frighten the villagers! If we can't find something real we'll create some threat out of anything a little over our heads and "GUARANTEE" thats's causing " terminal hair loss!"

i would agree du's purpose is penetration, however, the effects on the environment and biological systems have been noted in iraq. it has been reported the residual dust itself is very dangerous and being deployed in areas where dry dusty conditions are common, it has the ability to migrate.

anyway back to topic. this has fascinated me since about a decade ago when evidence was found in rock with orientations of iron particulates. it may be the case nothing will happen but i feel there is so much no-one understands about this pole situation. i feel the best approach would be the pragmatic one and if one has the inclination and time, observation of the night sky (clear i hope) will yield any results if interaction does occur. i myself am out every night and a clear sky is always a bonus. the cherry on the top would be to witness a light show the like has never been seen before. in no way shape or form do i subscibe to the 'we are doomed' scenario. i have observed the skies for over twenty years on different continents and i hope to continue till my last gasp.

The magnet on your refrigerator door is stronger than the Earth's magnetic field. Try it, put your compass near the magnet, guess which way the compass points.

This doesn't mean that the magnet's field is BIGGER than the Earth's field, it just means that locally it can distort the magnetic field.

if you are near a stone circle, try your compass near the stones. we noticed this effect pre-2000. it may be a weak effect but still observable.

it may well be the case the outer liquid core could also be influenced by this. consider the analogy of putting ones hand into a fast flowing stream. there is resistance to the flow.

if these experiments indeed influence the magnetic state and visual observation of these changes is possible, i for one will have a front row seat. between the magnetic north and the south atlantic anomaly i feel i am in the best location to observe these interactions if they occur.

no-one and i repeat no-one knows the timings, effects and consequences if it is the case that this is possible. it may or may not happen in my lifetime.

regarding your last paragraph. you state we can have an effect on or prevent planet wide climate and geological changes possibly headed our way.
i would agree we can influence climate by our activities but in no way shape or form do we have the ability to prevent geological or climate changes at all. the mechanisms are far greater than the collective will of the global community. mother nature has the last say in these matters.
