China pulls mummy with Caucasian features from US exhibition...

Looks like the Chinese Government just plain hate anything that resembles white people. Strange Times Indeed!!!

Mystery of the Chinese Mummy's Travel Ban

For her advanced years, she looks remarkable. Despite nearing the ripe old age of 4,000, long eyelashes still frame her half-open eyes and hair tumbles down to her remarkably well-preserved shoulders. But the opportunity for new audiences in the United States to view the "Beauty of Xiaohe" – a near perfectly preserved mummy from an inhospitable part of western China – has been dealt a blow after it was pulled from an exhibition following a sudden call from the Chinese authorities on the eve of opening. The reason for pulling the mummy and other artefacts from the show remained unclear yesterday (Chinese officials were on New Year holiday) but there were suggestions that the realities of modern Chinese politics may have had a part to play.

Is this just cultural difference, politics or is there something truly unexplained with this particular mummy, the "Beauty of Xiaohe"?

Any comments of debate would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a National geographic documentary about the mummies. Very interesting. I have my doubts but if it is true then it's truly a unique find.

actually quite ancient practitioners, chinese history is full of mass book burnings and such.

the motives seem political as it is in the chinese goverment to promote the one people paradigm.

Maybe its our western government that needs watching. Maybe its our outdated scientific beliefs that needs changing. The belief that we are the first, the strongest and the most intelligent being to ever walk this wonder we call home needs changing. Maybe our governments are lying to us about our history as it is easier and cheaper to blame the chinese for hiding the truth than it is for our governments to throw our religious, historical and scientific books out the window and start rewriting our proper history than it is to admit to us that history as it is taught to us and learnt by us is all wrong. My guess, is that they were afraid Bill Clinton would see the mummy and fly to China to try and hook up.

I'm sure everyone remembers the disturbing newscast from 10-15 years ago of Clinton professing his love for Juanita the Incan mummy.
