When I read this this morning I thought to myself how lucky we are to have Homeland Security sticking their hands down every traveler's pants; keeping us safe from Americans who might have a nuke in their undies while keeping the borders wide open for our many, many friends from around the world who are yearning for wealth or freedom or terrorism.

I think you might be struggling with the concept of mathematical risk factors and the literary tool of irony.

Here's a clue: Is a dirty bomb more likely to come over an wide open border or be found in an American's diapers or underwear? If you were charged with protecting America, would you want to keep a terrorist from entering the Nation with a dirty bomb - would you think that would be important? What is likely to kill more people? A dirty bomb brought over an unguarded border or a underwear bomb? So if you cared to protect American life from death by terrorism, as Homeland inSecurity claims is it's mission, and you knew the terrorists now have nuclear materials, would you leave the border wide open?

From the observation of choices being made by Homeland Security in securing the Nation, I would say they have dumped their resources into areas that do not protect America from being nuked or even raided by a large number of terrorists who are more likely to enter over the border than to enter through heavy airport security. If I were managing this effort, I would make it a priority to protect Americans from being nuked. But that is just me.
