Has anyone noticed anything different/strange in regard to law enforcement (or anything else) in respective parts of the U.S. (or other countries)?

The reason I'm asking is because on my way to work yesterday, I passed a late model pick up truck that had apparently pulled over two motorcycles. It was obvious that the vehicle was undercover because of the red & blue flashing tail lights. I know that law enforcement utilizes various types of vehicles for undercover work, however, it is odd for the county in which I live to use such an expensive vehicle as this. Also, I've noticed recently that there are several policemen here that have begun to wear totally black uniforms which is something new to those of us here.

While not living in the US at the moment I can only relate back to what friends/family back home are noticing. My father was saying there were checkpoints, and they are wearing black uniforms now as well. I find it very disturbing with the black uniforms. I hope they dont start wearing the ski masks. boogey boogey!!

I have not heard about any of this. Checkpoints? Where? If your family is in NYC I understand but anywhere else.. sounds a little scary! I have yet to be out yet today (on vacation
) but I guess I'll see later.

In Ogden, Utah. turns out they are increasing the checkpoints for 'alcohol tests'. See, they have a main boulevard and all the kids 'cruise' this on the weekends, they have checkpoints to see if the kids are drunk driving. So it turns out they're just beefing those up. Extra protection, or boogey boogey?

Metal and chemical detectors have/or soon will be, placed in all major airports and we have members of the chemical and biological teams coming to do tests on our ventilation and water supplies.

I also saw my first armed policeman today...in Edinburgh!
