Careful what you post, this is exactly how they hunt for assault rifle enthusiasts online... Then check through other posts to see if you have strong anti-government sentiments etc. and if you do have "red flags", you could end up on a list, and/or be targeted for investigation.

You are already on a list!

I'm afraid that is inaccurate. It has the equivalent punch at distance as a 7.62x39

7.62x51 is pretty big and hits a lot harder.

I agree with Spikes Tactical, for the money, it is the best AR you will find. I am running a Spikes CHF upper, on a DPMS lower, and absolutely love it. Consistantly 1-1.5" MOA.

Your right there.. it doesn't matter what you feed an AK it will just keep going. I own an AK and all i shoot through it is the cheap steel cased stuff. My dad just bought an AR and I personally like my AK more. then again its more to my liking anyway.

Most of the makers are pretty equal except Olympic Arms and the old American Spirit Arms. The barrel is the heart of the system. If you have a correctly made barrel/chamber,especially if it is chrome lined you should be problem free with an AR. Colt is the only maker/assembler that has changed the size of parts(hammer and trigger pins etc) so that their parts could not be interchanged with parts in other AR rifles.

I do not own a AR 15 I own a AR 10 which is pretty much the same thing just in .308 instead of .223 but that being said the Colt LE6920 is my favorite AR 15. I used t have one and regretfully sold it h well my Diamondback AR 10 is good enough.

Ruger AR556 Fits me Well! Chrome-plated bolt carrier inside diameter and chrome-plated gas key inside diameter provide exceptional resistance to hot gases. The gas key is staked so that it will not loosen after extensive firing. A matte black oxide finish on the exterior of the bolt carrier provides corrosion resistance. This is the best for me

I hear lots of positive feedback on the 10.5" 300 blackout (mine is 16").
Daytona Tactical has some decent uppers for those on a budget. AR Depot is another sight to check out, they have decent uppers in a variety of calibers. I picked up a 7.62x39 upper just to shot 30 cal on the cheap.

I have heard both good and bad about Bushmaster. I found one I liked and bought it - Bushmaster QRC Quick Response Carbine AR15 16 Barrel W/ Mini Red Dot .223/5.56 30rd. I removed the red dot and put a 2.5-10x40 red/grn crosshair with red/grn floating hologram w/red laser scope on it. I have not had one single problem with it yet. In all fairness though, I haven't put that many rounds through it yet. For $600-625 depending on site and mag, so far it seems like a great deal.

For my AR platform I went with a Noveske Gen III Recon rifle. The barrels are top quality and the thing is really accurate. made up in Oregon......
Its chambered for a 5.56. I could have done 300 BLK but since I have a Sig 716 chambered in 308 and a Ruger Scout rifle the same, if I need to hit hard I will be using those

Woohoo... Top shelf Fred!!

Noveske makes good kit!

On the Sig, I'm glad you're happy with yours because sigUSA quality can be all over the board.

Lately I've been doing a lot of shooting with AR74 and 5.56 BUMPSAW's side by side against two hk33 and one g3a3 host gun with a registered trigger pack for experimental purposes.

We're happy to finally be at the point where the experimental work could start, it took several months of regular shooting sessions to get two of us to the point where we were achieving enough repeatable accuracy at speed with anything approaching consistency with all the test guns.

(Select fire g3a3's are just plain brutal to learn to shoot)

Thanks. Yeah it was a bit pricey and I had to pull the trigger last year right before the most recent restrictions.

I haven't had a problem with the sig except its pretty picky about its ammo in terms of feeding

The G3 just mauls the bejesus out of cases, especially when you're 2 or 3 magazines deep into strings of full auto fire. (It's telescopic stock was also designed by a sadomasochistic marksmanship fanatic)

Those are nice weapons, however the average shooter can purchase 4-5 mil specs for what your paying with similar results.
In my opinion, range time is far better than a designer gun.
Practice, practice, practice, and when your tired, practice some more.
My mil spec 300aac is dead nut at 100 yds (Anderson upper, middle of the road scope).

P.S. my upper cost $550.00 alone.
So my 4-5 my be exaggerated.

I'm not knocking you, I just cant purchase a weapon of that "caliber"

I personally do melonited barrels and prefer Cold hammer forged as well as 1:8 twist rate and I think even a different rifling profile than milspec even but I kind of know what you're saying here.

Honestly, when it comes to the AR15 your bolt barrel fcg and whether you free float or not are the absolute biggest things which determine the mechanical accuracy potential of your rifle.

These, and the gas system, are the best and most affordable places to diverge from milspec in order to wind up with a firearm which performs far superior to a rack grade milspec gun.

Adding an extra $100 into the budget to get a 1 moa gun instead of a 3-5 moa gun is pretty reasonable though.
