you dont like the godfather movies, i admit number 3 is a bit lame but number 1 and number 2 are great movies. that bit at the start of number 2 where michael gets the gun from the toilet is a great bit of entertainment, you can really feel the tension there thanks to a young al pacino and his fantastic acting ability.

plus you couldnt ask for a better line up than de nero, al pacino and brando. they are great movies with amazing actors, scripts and story lines. much better than the continuos crap that they churn out these days. i couldnt really think of many better movies full stop, maybe the good the bad and the ugly could be on par but im not even sure about that.

I saw no1 of the godfather(i did not watch the 2nd and 3rd), fell asleep. I am not into macho man films. Although it is well made, i am not a type of male that likes that sort of thing, so i do not watch them. I understand most of you guys love it, but does nothing for me.

My fav films are spiritual based. I do not ever watch male and there gang obsession movies, or crime movies.

Yep, i never watch action type movies, but i have seen life of brian, lol.

Its a choice and i do not like lethel weapon and never watch it. if a film does not have a spiritual tone to me, and alot of movies do, as often hollywood is telling a spiritual message, i ignore it for most part.

Gotti: The Rise and Fall is an under-rated gem. Many of the actors in the Sopranos were cast after their roles in this HBO movie.

Armand Assante is excellent as John Gotti but Anthony Quinn steals the scenes as Neil Dellacroce. He's got some great dialogue especially the part where he's telling John "you never break the rules" after Gotti has Ralph Galione clipped..

Here's my vote:

Godfather 1
Godfather 2
Godfather 3
Once Upon a Time in America
American Gangster
The Gangs of New York
Road to Perdition
The Departed
(and because my husband insisted: Last Man Standing)

.....and since My Cousin Vinnie got a vote:
Get Shorty
Mickey Blue Eyes

Also funny that basically no Movies besides American ones made it. You guys know that they make movies outside of the US especially gangster/mob/mafia flicks, in places like Russia and Japan you know where the YAkuza resides ...........

Yeah, we know.

But the thread is titled "the best" and it's purely subjective. I doubt many people watch Japanese or Russian mob movies unless they are good enough to make it into Western media circles.
