Here is an example of how to embed a video in a post.

The link appears in the address bar of a web browser as....

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/6bc0e2215fa5.png[/atsimg]

... or something close to that.

the button [vid:YOUTUBE] will bring up a dialog
only the part between the = sign and the & symbol should be entered

roWAyPba89A

Then click OK.

The final version in your post will appear like this in your edit screen

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/496bc02208bb.png[/atsimg]

Hope that helps.

Oh Thank you so much. It is so nice to be on a site that is so supportive.

Good gesture, would be ideal if the actual process could be recorded and uploaded to youtube and embedded within this thread and for future references as to make the whole processes that extra bit easier for the new comers or those who are simply not that savvy.

Its all about interaction.

You know what's funny? That method NEVER works for me. The videos only embed if I include some of that other junk that comes after the actual video ID.

I have no idea why, but it does. For example:

Take this Youtube URL for instance:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj5rMTbhFGg

If I try to embed it using just

Hj5rMTbhFGg

This is the undesired result (notice how the video is missing?):

But if I embed it using this:

Hj5rMTbhFGg&feature=related

Then it works just fine:

I've never received an explanation as to why this bug happens. Go figure!

=============
UPDATE
LOL!! Of course NOW it works that I try and show it to someone. Murphy's Inverse Law.

I will also note that my browser always blocks that function..
If people are having that issue then they need to "allow or temprarily allow the scripted window"
Usually a popup line below URL link window..

Then it works

Or you can just type manually [yvid ][ /yvid]

I never use any of the tabs for adding the bbcode. I always type it out.

Thanks..I should have realised that..

But it's a pretty quick click to allow..

No...I can see both vids. I know what you're talking about though. I kept getting blank vid window trying to embed how others say they are able to emebed.
I'll try some of the methods described above.
If posted properly will I see vid in "preview post"?

I see a grayed out box where the video would be if I preview the post.

This is how I know i have my yvid /yvid coded correctly.

But I don't beleive ATS actually connects the video for the "preview" while one is still editing the post.

As long as a large gray box with "youtube video" appears in the preview
it has always appeared correctly when I finally post.

Thnx...I know some sites you can see vid in preview, some not. I tried the other day and it was in blank in preview but also blank when I posted it? I'll keep playing with it, can't be that hard even for a comp dummy like me. I hope.

Got it thnx all.

Thanks so much for all the above info. I`ll save the thread and just keep trying until I get it. Now if I can just get the little emoticons to work again, I`ll be quite happy.
