Obama telling republican to sit in the back:

Please tell me you do realize that was figurative not literal? He did not actually say those words. That is why the term was surrounded by ' marks. An infamous technique employed by FOX News to rile up the mental midgets.

Heathcare passes without one republican vote:
www.washingtonpost.com...

Yes it was approved by a majority vote, 219 to 212. That is how government / democracy works by majority vote. Please tell me you realize that and weren't just skimming headlines. No one could be that ignorant.

But if you'd like to see tangible proof of the lack of cooperation by Republicans in action, here ya go:

They actually BLOCKED THEIR OWN AMENDMENTS!

I wonder if he'll be using anything from my own vision for the future

Had I been POTUS instead of Cheney/Bush, this would have been my thinking:

INSTEAD of making a run at the throne of the earth ie: global geostrategic hegemony, by authorizing the muder of 3000 of my own constituents, in order to wage resource and domination wars as per the PNAC (with a soft c) recommendations, and sacrificing another million innocent souls in the process to a Satanic doctrine..

..I would have looked into the future of the 21st century and noted that the whole world was on the very cusp of entering the technological age, and on the basis that we had a severe CRISIS on our hands, in education and technological innovation, and were about to lose our competitive edge in an increasingly competitive global marketplace, I would have spent that TWO TRILLION dollars on all manner of infrastructure, including a REAL information superhighway in the form of terrabit bandwidth fiber optic cabling to every school and home in the country, as well as various Civil Infrastructure initiatives, including high speed and light commutor rail corridors between all the major urban centers, improving dramatically the speed of exchange of people and goods and services, as well as the continued joy of community living, or a MAJOR national upgrade in other words, on par with JFK's landing on the moon initiative.
Then we could have turnedd our attention to the Education System, recognizing that our HUMAN INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL development, is indeed our greatest national asset and latant potentiality, for securing a vital edge within the larger context of an emerging global civilization / global village.

In other words, I would have tried to discern and do the will of God, instead of Satan, simple as that.

I honestly think there might have been GIVEN the wrong blueprint for success by the wrong people, people like Cheney, Bush Sr. and their ilk. &/or whoever they take their marching orders from..

May there be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth...

If I'd added in a reorg of the departments of government, and deficit reduction, without forsaking innovation, then there it is!

It's common sense of course, and only reasonable, as the demands of a new age..

Post speech follow up.

In my opinion it was a strong speech encouraging compromise and unity. Several times the POTUS reached out making overtures of a willingness to work together in bipartisan fashion. There was at least one full gallery standing ovation. He was somber yet encouraging and offered many new strategies for finally getting us out of economic slump.

He poked fun at the bureaucracy that exists within government in need of reform. He mused there was one department that regulates Salmon in fresh water, another that regulates Salmon in salt water and yet another that regulates Salmon after its smoked.

Overall I feel it was an accurate depiction of the present state of the union exhibiting both guarded caution and pragmatic optimism. But that is just the perspective from a tree hugging liberal. I also found the Republican rebuttal to be sobering, compelling and respectful.

Bring it detractors.

thier is no more winning economic future. Our educaion system is so far behind..is all about business, basic 5th grade mathemetics, and maybe some sports. if our education system is behind so bad, how cna thier be a bright future? wallstreet hires those in ecellerated mathemtics..becuase the know how to conjure up scams to rip the conusmer off..thast dishonest buisness..the world we live in today.
and being told everythings going to be ok, without being lalowed to see every detail ans schematics..its misleading and shows they have alot to hide. its just like buying that old school cough medicine, not knowing what the ingreidients are, jsut being told its good for you, when the ingreidients are as toxic as coc aine and fornaldyahide

It is impossible to argue with logic like that so I'll let your post speak for itself.

You are so right, and make a very powerful argument for the need to improve the education system in the United States.

And I agree with Barry that we do need to show up and be disciplined and work hard, while foresaking and giving up the desire for fame or recognition. All I've ever wanted was to see people "get it", that's all, so that we and they and everyone might get to have the opportunity to play a participative role as the active historical causal agents that we and they really are as necessitated by the supreme gift of free will. So yeah Mr. President, that's fine. Now's the time to go back to work and create something worthwhile, and be helpful to self and others, without the need to prove or be seen as important, as we try to cross the bridge between what is to what ought to be, with some authenticity and genuine good will, which reminds me of that other one Billy (authentically inauthentically authentic) - the past needs to be true and not a Big Lie, so that we can learn from it, and the future, we'll "rejig" that with something that adds up to much more than a mere "hill of beans" thank you very much, and let's face it, a hill of beans isn't really all that anyway (store your treasure in heaven).

Obama's state of the union:

Step one. repeat "win the future" for five minutes
step two. Woodrow Wilson's New Deal
step three. Say some stuff that Ron Paul has been saying for years
step four. talk about illegal immigrants to pander for their votes
step five. ????
step six. "Win the Future"

Maybe we should fix social security before we tackle health care?
Or I guess we can do what Clinton did and just sell America to China so the books look good for a term or two.

So I suppose Michelle Bachmann is now the official spokesmodel for Tea Party Movement since she delivered the OFFICIAL TPM response to SOTUA?

Gee, I always thought it was Sarah Palin.
