Op I am sorry if someone has posted this already...

The answer contrary to what some have said is much simplier...

Ths US military used to do this all the time where I worked at ( i am not sure I can name the company- Mods?)

They ordered all the supplies they could with left over money, but it was stored and not shipped till next year.. (remember their year may end on a weird date or they have full budget allocated and are spending it now)

A sells person I double checked with told me this... They spend all their mony this way so that next year they can justify next years budget..

"See we spent all of this... We need more... barely had enough for tools"

If they do not spend it all it gets taken away from them next year...

check with the other members this is what it sounds like... Purchasing spending the budget so they do not lose them..

this is a way to get survival rations to the many government employees that had been convinced
to not join in with the survivalists in stockpiling resources...as their involvement would give the
population cause for inquiry or even concern!

the gov't is using the 'exercise' as a cover story

the 36 month shelf life means that the food stuffs are not the freeze dried variety...as those can last
up to 10 years....

which debunks the notion that it is implied that there is a 2 year window for some earthshaking event
...and therefore a 1 year useable period (for the ration packs) as the infrastructure and
grid systems get rebuilt during this 3 year period.....and groceries/gas pumps, etc get back on-line

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that a 3 year shelf life is pretty long. Anything could happen in three years. Earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and who knows what else. Every year we've got a disaster in some part of the country. Seems to me like they're just preparing for the unexpected. It doesn't hurt to be prepared, especially if weather is supposed to increase in intensity.

To me ignorance is not bliss, just ignorant, The whole point of ATS is to investigate "all" that is goinging on in our world and beyond. I do not know where you live, but if you are anywhere close to Memphis, TN or St.Louis MO. This is the cat out of the bag for us. If there is not a major quake on the New Madird or in Arkansas in the next 8 months I will personally give you my apology.

Well shoot! I missed your post before I posted mine. Yep. You said it all. They are trying to do their job.
If we have a major, major catastrophe, such as the ones being described here, we will need help, and it sounds like they are trying to get their resources in place.

It's scary though, ....... the anticipation.

When its pieced together something is happening as the UN had just declared food price rises and shortages because of global weather conditions, that is not a assumption. The facts speak for themself.

In and of itself, no its not strange at all that FEMA would be purchasing storable foods, blankets, water, etc...

Thats what they are supposed be doing, preparing for the worst case scenerios for when disasters strike.

If, they werent prepared and something did happen, like Katrina for instance, people would be and still are screaming from the rooftops about FEMA not being prepared.

However, with all of the other rumors that you hear about FEMA, like Dentention Centers, Coffins, etc...it is fairly reasonable to maintain a healthy skepticism as to their real intent.

This past summer the park ranger at Shawnee forest told us they were closing off the park to the public. He said they could not pay the rangers. we thought that was weird 4 months ago then some friends were there and the ranger told him the Garden of the gods was going to be closed this coming Spring because of too many injuries? We thought it was really strange. The signs on my profile pic are in the Shawnee Forest.

Yes, I understand your dream, my granddaughter was born in Danoon, Scotland. My daughter and I both had a dream that every one was dead but us. I myself, promote an artist Stanley Clark that painted 9/11 down to the images of the one supposed to be flying the planes flying into the world trade center painted in Feb 2001. I just gave him a ride to Hot Springs AR. because he said he felt safe there. Then reading this post and now the Pine Bluff Arsenal have their warning transformers off line is scary. Pray that nothing happens because if it does it was criminal not to warn us, I will be the first to press charges.

A government website is asking for prepared meals for 140 million and more if needs for a catostraphic event in the New Madrid Fault.

Coolottie,

Go read the request for information on the government site. They are not asking for prepared meals they are asking for information on the logistics of getting prepared meals and how quickly, how much etc.. companies can provide.

No,it's not strange. A disaster survival agency, buying meals,so people can survive if a disaster happens.
That's unheard of,i heard that fema has a survival hand book, that teaches people how to find food like they are vultures. So,the said survivors can live off scavenged road kill, small game and berries. So,the fact they are buying desirable food for a disaster scenario is just bonkers.

No, I havent heard.

Im sure you're aware if you're from the area.

But, the Shawnee National forest is several hundred square miles and they cant close down the whole forest.

There are towns, houses, highways, etc... that are located within the boundaries of the forest, it basically covers the majority of the deep south region of Southern Illinois..

But, it wouldnt suprise me if they had temporarily closed down some of the federally ran recreational areas because of funding.

Yes, I won't go into it but I was put away for 2 1/2 years for the real reason the The Dooms Day Clock went to 5 til midnight on 1/17/2007. I do not expect anyone to believe what I say, but if there is not a 7 mag to 8 mag quake in the next 5 months on the New Madrid, then shut my mouth. You should listen to the old music.

I shure hope they do not. I live north of Mt. Vernon. I love going to Garden Of The Gods. If they shut down the forrest, I will personally petition the county or state. You should dig up some information and make you a thread.

Sorry this is off topic.
