Suggested this in a thread in the forum, and someone suggested I make a thread in here to see what you think. I doubt it'll be considered, but just incase. There's just so many arguments in there that's all, and also so many threads that are about anything but possible evidence, more of peoples ideas on what's happening, and some of them are going to be way over the top for people new to this subject. So I'll just quote what I said :

Personally I think the forum should be split into two. One forum for theories, etc, the other for nothing but sightings, possible evidence, etc. This place is far too crammed up with what people think, and a lot of it is just so out there that it probably puts people off. I started looking around here the beginning of this year and loved it for a week or so, then it started to get a bit tiresome. If a forum would be dedicated to vids/pics of what people are seeing and all the other types of threads got put into another it might be a lot easier for people to decide whether or not there's really something to this.

For instance, threads on :

Pics, videos, government info, government stances on ufo's, info from seti, ufologists, astrobiologists, etc. Anything but what we here think, put all that into another forum and let us argue amongst ourselves in there.

The forum is an absolute nightmare you're right but I don't see splitting it changing that any.

Kids will come on here with outrageous thread titles that don't reflect thread content wherever they are housed. That's what's bugging me about it, that and these blind believers who have absolutely no rational, critical or logical thinking skills and accept any old balloon, lantern, street light, or aircraft as a sign of imminent alien invasion and subsequent apocalypse.

Quite frankly I wouldn't mind if a few people got fed up with that forum and looked elsewhere because maybe we could then get back to the investigative and collaborative threads of old that made me register.

Flagged though because I'd like to see some other opinions.

Its where compartmentalising comes in handy, and it must be one of the reasons why you hear black programs are run like that.

I agree, people need to filter and put these threads into there own forums. Like i have no interest in seeing threads about lights or some rubbish video that a person filmed, as i think all photos and videos can be faked today with enough time and skill.

I think the thing here isn't so much the content as it is the shear amount of stuff associated with the topic. One cannot separate the two topics in a way that would make it equitable to split them into their own forums. Or at least not that I've seen anyway. Discussion is so vast here because there is A LOT to talk about. The fake stuff will make itself known, and over time, it'll fall the to bottom of the list. We're good about that here. Debunking has become one of our bigger contributions to the community at large.

So, in summation, I don't see why splitting them up would be a good idea.

I think the UFO stuff should be in a completely different forum.... on another planet.

I gotta ask... WHY???

The Aliens & UFO Forum is one of our largest here!! It's amazing the things people will attribute to UFO's / Aliens, when basic, mundane alternatives exist, and are FAR more likely. But that's the beauty of the forum here; we allow them all to come together under the banner of ATS and discuss them in ONE, centralized location.

For me, it's beauty in simplicity that wins here. But what do I know, I'm just another Conspiracy Theorist!!

I gotta ask... WHY???

It's a distraction from the more pertinent things: the corruption, the evil and the deception that's being perpetrated by earthlings against other earthlings.

That's what the other forums are for.. Quite honestly, I don't see what human corruption has to do with aliens invading Earth. Aliens & UFOs is just one forum that discusses a paranormal topic that deserves to be heard, in my humble opinion.

I understand the potential benifits of this idea. It would be good to seperate the existance of a case, from peoples opinions of it to a degree, but there are also very good reasons why the aliens/ufo forum should remain whole.
First of all , its all very well saying that a case should be posted without the debate next to it to colour the opinion of fresh eyes, and often times the debate can overshadow the case itself. However, if you wanted to post an opinion on a case, you would have to post the case info along side your opinion anyway for the sake of contextualising what you say, because otherwise it would just be people naming a case, and saying what they think of it. Its much better to have the immediately relavent case to hand in the same thread to refer to, and therefore, you would have one thread with just the case, and another with the case and the opinion, so either way, stuff gets posted twice and rams the forums bandwidth limits like jackhammer through a chocolate mouse.
While I totaly get where you are comming from, I dont think it would be a viable solution to the problem. What might be an idea is to make it impossible to comment on a thread till every page has been read. That would improve the quality of comment no end, and keep things relavent .

I don't know if splitting it in two will actually help, but how about this? Make it so a member has to have a certain amount of posts before he/she can post to the Aliens/UFO threads. That would weed out the kids who com in here, quickly make 20 posts, mostly spam or trolling, then post something spectacular like, "I am an alien, look at me!" I say make it 50 posts? Something has to be done, we are over run in these threads by sensation seekers. Thanks for listening

Splitting the ufo/alien board into two is a terribly bad idea.

In fact we can't discuss the reptillian topic in that board because apparently its a little too painful for some of our weak-minded members who insist on debunking everythng with little or no reason.

ATS has become too mainstream as it is, so please don't make it worst!

Fair enough? The world is far from perfect and we could use some real answers!

It was split in two. These are the forum descriptions for all three forums and are posted above every thread.

we have the Aliens & UFOs for documented story's

Aliens and UFOs: This forum is dedicated to the discussion of historic and contemporary events related to extraterrestrial encounters, UFO sightings, and speculation about related subjects. Discussion topics and follow-up responses in this forum will likely tend to lean in favor of the existence of extraterrestrials and the related conspiracies, scandals, and cover-ups. Members who would seek to refute such theories should be mindful of our tradition of supporting the examination of the extraterrestrial phenomenon on the related conspiracy theories, cover-ups, and scandals. Replies that make fun or otherwise ridicule and demean those posting honest experiences and/or questions will be removed. Members who post such responses repeatedly will be banned.

And the Gray Area for personal sightings, and experiences.

The Gray Area: The Gray Area is a discussion forum that provides a dedicated area for members to post their confessions, disclosures, and related extraordinary personal experiences. Like the highly speculative Skunk Works forum, The Gray Area will tolerate topics that may be unusually hypothetical or unproven for the purpose of vetting the stories of thread-starters by the ATS membership at large.

Reptiles goes to Skunk Works

ATS Skunk Works: This forum is dedicated to the all-important highly speculative topics that may not be substantiated by many, if any facts and span the spectrum of topics discussed on ATS. Readers and users should be aware that extreme theories without corroboration are embraced in this forum. Discussion topics and follow-up responses in this forum will likely tend to lean in favor of conspiracies, scandals, and cover-ups. Members who would seek to refute such theories should be mindful of AboveTopSecret.com's tradition of focusing on conspiracy theory, cover-ups, and scandals.

Ok, that helps clear things up, cheers for explaining, and I guess that with the nature of what the Aliens/UFO's forum is about there'll always be arguments and threads that seem strange or over the top to some anyway.

And neither do I. That's why the subject should have it's own forum.... preferably on another planet but until that is possible a separate forum will do.

Personally I believe it serves the intended purpose of turning away newcomers from urgent and immediate issues involving real conspiracy facts on this planet. I would never recommend this site to someone who knows little or nothing about the NWO because they’ll see all these Aliens and UFO threads littering the discussion board.

Wow its hard for me to understand how some people take the NWO seriously but fail to correlate the importance of the alien issue into it. Have you guys/gals not heard that the illuminati is controlled by reptillians? David Icke isn't the only one to state this either...many others have!

All the alien races play some role in day-to-day earth events for one reason or another. Instead of focusing on grainy ufo pictures and hoaxed videos on youtube you should focus on the cover-up and why its being conducted. If there was nothing to cover-up, then why do the same ufo-alien "debunkers" persist in that forum as do the 9-11 "debunkers" in the 9-11 forum?

By the way, religion is based on ufology/crypto-zoology/hollow earth/occult literature and that is WHY lots of people have a hard time understanding the bible and other spiritual texts. Unless you understand the context its hard to put 2 + 2 together and make sense of it all. Try reading "Cosmic Conflict" by stan deyo for the low down.....
