there is no conspiracy in punk. never was. The beautiful thing about punk (back in the late 70's early 80's) is that you had all kinds of differing
viewpoints, messages and political stances. Left-wing anarchists like Crass, Nazi's like Skrewdriver, Rastafarians like Bad Brains, Nihilists like
G.G. Allin, Minor Threat with the S.E. movement, and the list goes on. Also punk, initially, wasn't limited as far as what the music should sound
like. Different bands drew from all kinds of influences such as reggae, garage rock, the mods, "krautrock" like Neu! and Can, hell pretty much
anything you can think of (except the dreaded Prog rock). Punk, to me, used to mean total freedom.
Too bad punk was damn near ruined in the 90's with crap bands like Offspring, Green Day, and IMO (sorry OP) NOFX.
