i asked him if he'd ignore a crying child in the street, and he came back with that pumpkin nonsense..

you're the "crying child" (and i mean that in the nicest possible way, seeing as i'm right here with you)
"the street" is the world..

I asked you if you eat pumpernickel with watermelon when the wind blows from the east...the pumpernickel obviously symbolizes the world, watermelon is a reference to pseudo-environmentalists (green on the outside...) and the east wind is said to be brought by the Moose, and symbolizes tears of the earth. How can you miss that? It's so obvious.

we're not his "children"

That's for damn sure

and he's made it clear he has no interest in seeing what we're "crying" about
(or rather, he thinks we're crying about nothing.. if so, great, all he has to do now is actually prove how there is no "bogeyman"..)

No, if I had no interest, I wouldn't be here, like I don't go to ghost threads or ruminations about aliens from the fifth density. I DO think you're crying about nothing. On the other hand, the burden of proof is upon YOU not me. You can't prove a negative. I can't prove there is no bogeyman, because it can't be proven. You, however, are tasked to prove there IS one. So far, jazz has wandered around with a lot of odd religious drivel about how iridium satellites emit SATAN sound at the magic whale frequency to kill whales en masse. There are any number of really big show-stoppers with that, and the most obvious is - you can't propagate sound in a vacuum.

Faced with that, he started veering off into more and more distant side alleys finally ending up with this song.

Not only can't the original topic be proven, it's not even there any more. It's Skunk Works, I'm not looking for signed documents from the creators of the satellites or photos showing them killing whales, but at least there ought to be a sort of continuity and some odd bit of rationality to give even a soupçon of believability to the topic.

he doesn't seem to understand what we're trying to get across in the same way you and i "understand" it

..as for the supposed *personal* messages in music (see what he did there?) ..he might like to have a listen to the recording made by the 14 y.o boy who snuck into john lennons hotel room and "interviewed" him.. but i've got a feeling he's now in over his head..

I'm sure you both understand the messages the songs are telling you, personally. The messages put there in 1969 for you. Have you started noticing the stalkers yet? Or that the neighbors are beaming waves at you?

It was a really awful song back when it first came out and hasn't gotten better with time. Do YOU feel as if some sort of message is being sent to you through a forty something year old song? It seems a lot like pop 40 crap, and it is.

Hey man - it was part of the movement announcing the Age of Aquarius, peace, love and universal understanding, a vision of a better world, and a whole lot of science fiction themes to go with it!

I enjoyed it back then - thanks everyone for the reminder

Ive seen this i even made a shortlived thread about it...
"The satellites are frequently visible in the night sky as satellite flares, a phenomenon typically observed as short-lived bright flashes of light."
Ill see if i can find it..

Dangalang cant find it...

But what happend was. I was out walking the dogs, or rather they were
running around in the field. An open area just outside my house.
We live in the swedish "outback" and airpollution is rare. One
streetlamp abit away.
The "thing" i saw was like a satelite, but i thought initially "WOW
that is one bright satelite". Problem is it became brighter and
brighter.. Timescale from sight to end of sight about 5-6 sec´s.
Like i said it became brighter and brighter and then dimming
of to nothing..
It was pithcblack like in NO sun and NO moon..Like in between.
And there were stars all over, i had a clear view of the nightsky.

wahaha
gave you a star for that little outburst..
..one gets poked with a stick enough.. and they react

you manage to speak all the tinfoil lingo back there.. but you haven't built a larger picture out of it?
some people are just like that i supppose, all those old jigsaw puzzles sitting in the back of the cupboard collecting dust

I think a larger picture only exists for people who see patterns in noise, like that guy Nash in A Beautiful Mind. Maybe Zager and Evans planned the evil SATAN satellites in 1969. Yeah, that's it.

....if we were to follow your line of reasoning out there, we'd have to acknowledge how that dolt was eventually sourced by the system, wouldn't we?

the musicians didn't actually *invent* all those things they sang about, did they?

it's evident now, if we were to be very patient with one another here, we'd start making a bit of progress..

what are you doing with all your jigsaw puzzle pieces? smoking them?

Yes. Yes they did. Do you think TPTB are sending you hints about their plans for the year 9595 in a bad 60s song?

what are you doing with all your jigsaw puzzle pieces? smoking them?

The problem is , they're not puzzle pieces, they're rain drops on the window of your mind.

The song itself isn't what I am talking about I am talking about the lyrics and given the time it was written.
The things they sing about are years later than their song.
That's what I'm pointing out.

I'm simply sharing what I see to see if anyone else sees something in it.

PMSL

..you're in over your head

me: "the musicians didn't actually *invent* all those things they sang about, did they?"
you: "Yes. Yes they did. Do you think TPTB are sending you hints about their plans for the year 9595 in a bad 60s song?"

we're takling about the band, remember? not TPTB
the band made the song, not TPTB, remember?
why do you keep trying this tired old ruse?

did the band *invent* IVF? (when they talk about making a kid in a glass tube)
try looking through some old mandrake the magician comics (same era) for some insights into the "pills" the band croons about..

when they're wailing about 'if woman can survive' you might like to click that little link in my sig there..

thanks for, uhh, whatever it was you did here

The things they sing about are years later than their song.

check that end verse again... "maybe yesterday"

Why do you keep on with the mysterious questions about some song that wasn't entertaining or relevant then, and certainly isn't now? Yes, the band made the song. But you're all "ooo you don't think they invented it, do you???" Come on. Say what you mean, if you have any meaning at all. Straight out. Quit dancing around and being all mystic. In what way, if any, is this relevant?

Really?

when they're wailing about 'if woman can survive' you might like to click that little link in my sig there..

Is it possible for you to say anything straight out? I know it's an ATS meme to be all mystic and cagey about things so you can twist away from any direct confrontation on facts, especially in the metaphysics and philosophy areas. But you CAN just state something. It doesn't take clicking sigs, or looking through comics, or watching a youtube, or anything else.

The band and the song are totally meaningless to the topic at hand. Unless you can relate it to the Iridium satellites. I'd LOVE to see how you do that. Please...give it a try. Thank YOU for taking this even further into the weeds than it was anyway.

The song is about some supposed future. Of course it's years later than their song.

I'm not sure how revealing it's supposed to be that in the year 4545 I won't need teeth.

you keep taking this all "literally" (..that seems to be part of the problem)
..ever heard of a discourse?
you seem to be waiting for some kind of "official" FOX news announcement?

iridium DOES NOT connect back to the song (got that now?)
the song carries a discourse, that is all
if you can't figure out how that discourse fits into a world-wide satellite grid you've got much bigger problems

..i'd imagine this is all a bit like rain on a windowpane for you at the moment?

Because you may not need to eat.

Think what teeth are for.
Maybe through genetically modifying food and wncapsulating all nutrients into pills
or
food shortages?
Or
because we have been genetically modified to and thrive on WD40
lol

The song is pap. There's nothing there but some doggerel rhymes and some very weak whinging about the future. I'm afraid Zager and Evans aren't exactly Wallace Stevens.

..i'd imagine this is all a bit like rain on a windowpane for you at the moment?

It pretty much confirmed what I suspected ... no particular point, other than perhaps 'whiny song about uncertain future' = 'angsty fear about misunderstood science'.
