Strange massive tears in the solar surface- Earth quivers

There seems to be alot of disinformation on this thread and some redirection as well, I may be a new member but the news sources are all covering it. A massive corneal hole has developed on the surface of our sun...Its not as described earlier in this thread " the sun doing what the sun does" here is the most up to date article on the matter I can find:

This is a fact people, you ask why the sudden developments of Jet stream anomalies, Eathquakes, dormant volcanoes all over the world becoming active active again, Birds dropping out of the sky, sudden magnetic polar shifts, unexplained rumbling all over the world, Magnetosphere instabilities and so on...

This is all on the rise, not slowly; not incrementally; but drastically and everyone is trying to redirect from the truth to stave from mass panic...we are not far from a global meltdown, this is just the beginning as far as i am concerned. people you need to prepare.

If this Planet X were close enough to strike Earth in December 2012 it would be visible to the naked eye.

They look the same but this one has bigger dark area then the last one...hope this is not a trend.

This isn't about beliefs. It is about facts and the fact is that most people on this thread ARE wrong. Coronal holes like this happen all the time. They do affect our planet. To what degree this one will affect Earth is something we'll have to wait for.

"Chemtrails" don't hide Saturn and it is visible to the naked eye at night. The time of travel to Saturn is 4 years by spacecraft. Planet X was supposed to hit Earth in 2003. It's a little late don't you think?

All this is is a bunch of people knowing little to nothing about the sun.

Well they are somewhat rare as it says here at the bottom of the page there is also a picture.

"The largest coronal holes, like that shown in Figure 16.14, can be hundreds of thousands of kilometers across. Structures of this size are seen only a few times per decade. Smaller holes—perhaps only a few tens of thousand kilometers in size—are much more common, appearing every few hours."

In the op's link if you read the comments below it does sayit is an old pic from last year. It goes on to say that the Sun does not look like that now. Old news I'm afraid

Hardly sounds like we're all going to die. It seems like any activity on the sun, whether its normal or not, stirs things up here on ATS. It's as if people forget we don't live in a closed stagnate system where nothing ever changes and every little change get's their proverbial panties in a bunch.

Quiet solar regions does not affect the earth as flares do!

The site may have an apocalyptic url but it's not at all silly. It's just a compilation of news stories. Did you even look it over before you dismissed it?

Rigel, so you believe comments left by anonymous internet posters before you believe your own eyes? Someone also posted a link to an image proving it was indeed current and debunking the previous commenter. Of course you could look it up yourself (sigh)

A compilation of news stories to support a 2012 related Apocalyptic agenda that is advertised right at the top of the page. So no I didn't even look at it. The fact that their borrowing real news to support their pseudoscience makes trust them even less.

Thank you (and all of the other serious posters) for addressing the material in the OP. There has been a change in the last couple of years in the Sun's behavior from what has been seen and a deviation from what is predicted. I am sure it is normal in that the Sun can pretty much do what it wants and it is normal, because it is doing what massive stars do without consideration for us. We merely bask in its glory but are very much subject to its whims.

I do think that the most significant driving force of all that we are seeing (weather extremes, volcanoes, earthquakes, and possibly even the die offs) come to pass is the activity of the Sun. I don't know if it is due to a companion star (as yet unseen) or natural variations. I tend to think the latter.

At minimum, we are going to see incredible food shortages this year. I echo the advice to prepare.

Don't forget that after last years extreme sun activity, we had wild weather and a massive quake (Haiti). Get ready for more of the same! Or maybe even worse ...

There is no massive coronal hole right now, the 'article' was talking about something from last year that's been and gone. The Sun is fine at the moment and will be for several billion years, then after the Hydrogen in it's core has finished fusing into Helium, the core will collapse generating great heat and cause the remaining outer shell of Hydrogen to start a fusion reaction, the Sun will in this process swell to a red giant and destroy the planets out to and including the Earth. This will be in about 5 BILLION years.
The Sun reverses it's magnetic field approximately every 11 years, at the peak time of solar activity magnetic reconnection events cause flares and CMEs. This happens regularly and there is nothing special this time round, the only difference is people who haven't got the training or understanding to comprehend what's going on have access to the Internet and a wealth of information they can't even begin to process rationally.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SUN.

The only thing worth worrying about, is the damage to our modern electrical infrastructure.. Which is serious enough in itself.
