Read what Glenn Beck says about Jared Loughner:

Figures this insane dude was an atheist.

Glenn’s letter to the American people, politicians, and media

Monday, Jan 10, 2011 at 11:48 AM EST

While Americans are grappling to understand the Arizona tragedy, the absolute vacuum of leadership on both sides is staggering.

We live in a country that has been struck by John Hinckley Jr. and Sirhan Sirhan, Lee Harvey Oswald and Mark David Chapman. And one that’s been hit by terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, the DC Sniper John Allen Muhammad, the Fort Hood killer Nidal Hasan, and 19 highjackers all claiming to be freedom fighters. You’d think we’d understand the difference between madmen and terrorists.

All evidence points to the fact that the assailant from this weekend was severely mentally disturbed. His belief system was not rational by any modern political standard. He was an atheist,

Yep. I am.

Silly me. I thought quoting a national expert who has a national radio and TV show would provide the proof you are requesting.

Glenn Beck wrote the letter, not me.

So if you have a problem with his vetting process let him know.

Sirhan Sirhan religious
Mark David Chapman played the guitar in church
Timothy McVeigh believed in God
John Allen Muhammad commited his crimes in the name of god
Nidal Hasan the same

Whats your point?

What an ignorant comment. Do people get away with saying this crap?

I figure that being a mass murderer pretty much trumps being an atheist.

Sooo now we can be on the look out for ALL 20-somethings with a mental disorder/schizophreniform thinking that makes stupid youtubes, smokes pot, is a registered Democrat, are atheists, has a fixation with grammar/fiat money and wears a funny hat. That about cover it?? Better call Napolitano and inform her that she needs to amend her watchlist.

You just made it.

Believers and nonbelievers are all capable of horrendous crimes.

Atheists always imply directly or indirectly that they are rational and do not commit such crimes.

Obviously, that's utter nonsense but that's the bs they always spew.

There has been no suggestion that he killed due to his non belief in anything,

I don't think he believed in Santa either, maybe that's why he started shooting people?

There's two problems with these statements:

1. What evidence? How can you prove that the assailant is mentally disturbed? Maybe he was just pissed off. Everyone gets mad at times throughout their lives. There is no such thing as an "official" state of mind that is "normal".

2. Atheism is NOT a belief system. Atheism is the lack of belief in god(s) and the rejection of religious claims due to the enormous lack of evidence.

This guy seems to be trying to make atheism look bad, just because some guy got pissed off and decided to blow some woman's brains out for whatever reason he had.

Glenn Beck said he was an atheist.

I was not surprised by this finding.

I never said the nutjob killed because of it - but evidently you must have.

When will people learn that Glenn Beck gets paid to say these things, he is making a heck of a lot of money promoting this garbage. Why do people even pay attention to him?

Yeah. I heard that at first too.

Then I heard he was Christian.

But now Beck is saying atheist.

I'm not a huge Beck fan, but I figure the guy has his staff validate his facts better than I can through the internet.

If it ends up this whackjob was not atheist, then I apologize to anyone I have offended.

But as it stands at this moment, I'm standing by Becks assertion.

Yes...he's everything certain faction in the US hates and fears. A godless, pot-smoking, 9/11 tinfoil-hat-wearing commie, Nazi, lefty, gun-toting mental case. Couldn't have put together the more perfect package if we tried, eh? No wait...too bad he's registered independent and they can't pin the tag Democrat oh him. Anyone check to see yet if he wants to marry a man? Shucks...someone messed up on the last two counts. This is all disgusting to the point of insanity. I cringe.

True.

But every so often he spits out a truth or two.

I'm kind of hoping he sees the light and really starts exposing some real stuff.

He does have a huge audience and can make a huge impact for the greater good if he so desires.

I understand what you are saying. But regardless of whether this guy was an atheist or a Buddhist condemning a whole group of people based on what one person does is idiotic. And if Beck's audience wants to buy into it then I guess that is their prerogative. What is scary, like you said he can be very influential. Wake up sheeple!!
