BAN GUNS and SUSPEND the Constitution!! This needs to be done NOW!

OP, let's imagine that we woke up tomorrow, and *POOF*, the second amendment was taken out of the constitution, and no citizen was allowed to own a weapon. How would the government follow through with this? Would they knock on the doors of gun owners and say "Hello sir, the second amendment is no longer a part of the constitution, so we need your firearms." Only a small minority at best, I would say 15-20% of gun owners, would actually submit to this and give up their weapons. Do you honestly expect people to just line up in front of the Capitol Building and toss their guns into a fire, and say "Good riddance", and we will never have another violent act again? That is insanity, gun control will not prevent the crazies from hurting people. What is stopping the next Jared Loughner from running into a kindergarten school with a machete and killing 30 children? The police? I am willing to bet money that a violent psychopath could kill at least 45 people with a machete before the cops made it there and apprehended him.

I totally agree with the OP, America will never fix the gun crime issue until they tighten the gun laws. Its too easy to kill a person if you have access to guns, it is of course always possible to kill a person but these mass killings are something we dont see in countries with tighter gun laws.

No-one is saying that it would be easy to tighten the gun laws in America but if you want to stop mass killings like this you have to do something. The children and adults that were killed recently would not have been killed if gun laws were tightened and I didn't see their access to guns preventing this tragedy...

again, calling bs. I could go get an unregistered rifle right now if i wanted. Laws wont change that.

Yes true....however most of you are to gutless to kill up close and personal. Bare hands and knives take skill and patience and some degree of bottle. A gun you can sit back and just pull a little trigger.

your obviously UNEDUCATED! To bad all of the people that got shot and all of the people in the area didn't have 2 GUNS each on them with TRAINING! This way once anyone even saw him with a gun out he would have been DEAD! The OP should really grab a book and some common sense on this subject!

It should be a law that EVERYONE has to have a gun! At 14 you are trained and GIVEN a gun! Guns should be free to everyone and so should ammo! Also, if you are found out and about without your gun, then you should be charged and put in jail for not protecting your country! NUFF SAID!

Well maybe you need to look at the big picture... There were like 10 million guns in america that day, that weren't used for slaughtering innocent people. Gun control, handguns are banned here, I can still get one if I wanted to. The only thing banning guns does is open up another large avenue for black market money to be flooded to the gangbangers.

If I developed a serious mental health problem in the next month or year the chances of me being able to get my hands on a gun are close to zero, I wouldnt even know where to go.... So now you are advocating a whole country full of trained killers with guns? How many times has a gunman killed multiple victims in America without once being taken down by your gun wielding heroes?

What all of you "anti-gun" people don't understand is that guns are readily accessible regardless if you are a law-abiding citizen or not. Hell, criminals have an easier time of getting guns than law abiders do. You take away or ban guns from law abiding citizens, the only ones that will have them are the criminals. This isn't to mention the fact that everything from meth to crack to marijuana is all illegal, yet, people still use it AND buy it every day. And guess what? Most of them are criminals with criminal records.

The right to bear arms isnt in place to protect us from criminals..........its in place to protect us from people like you and the kind of goverenment that would "put its citizens in their place"

The mistake the op is making is assuming that guns and the constitution are the root of the problems.

They are not.

A gun will not do anything without a hand to guide...same holds true for laws.

The problems in the US are summed up by saying the wrong hands are guiding the laws....

Get back to basics, back to the constitution and I bet you would see a decline in gun violence as well.

Goes without saying I think, but here it is anyways.

There is an immense amount of "tenseness" in the US (maybe just my view from the outside).

Remove the tension causing things (lobbyists IMHO) and you will see a drop in violence.

where has it been the case that young girls or old women have defended themselves from said attacks using guns? I'd stake my life on the fact that more gun crimes are committed than prevented by the ownership of guns
