i hate doing this, since i don't mean to start any outlandish predictions, but after reading a particular article on NEIN and Nerdling's Exclusive, I feel that July 11th is a date to watch for possible high profile terrorist attacks. here are my reasons, You do all remember that Bin Laden offered a truce to European countries a few months ago, giving them a 3 month grace period, well that truce is set to expired, and recent warnings from terrorist groups, suggest that they are closely following that time line....So Europe, Italy especially and of course the US should be on high alert especially on 7/11.

However, a careful analysis of Bin Ladens previous actions and of the speech shows that those dates are probably not accurate.

It is very unlikely that Bin Laden intended three Gregorian months; it is far more likely that he intended three Islamic, or lunar, months.

If we take the date of airing of the speech as the beginning of the three month window, and use the first broadcast date of April 14, we can calculate the actual ending date. April 14 on the Islamic calendar is the 24th day of the month Safar. Three months from Safar would be the 24th day of Jumada al Awil, or Jumada I.

The 24th of Jumada al Awil falls this year on July 11.

however I do hope that 7/11 passes us like any other day with no major events.

sorry Nerdling, I just noticed you included this NEIN report in your story

I wouldn't call that a prediction WW, I think you are just being vigilant, and giving us a good heads up for something that might happen. Nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned.

WW,
it is not a prediction unless u think something is going to happen-based on whatever reasoning.
That said, I hope u are wrong.

Only thing happening on July 11/04 is that a new indy cart racing champion will be crowned. Hey its not the Formula 1, but its the only type of racing event going on in Toronto at the moment. All we can do now is hope for some cool car crashes. It's what differentiates Indy racing with Tennis. No collisions in tennis except the racket making contact with the ball.

It would seem that would cause the goverment to step up operations because surely the to think that 7/11 situation adds up to i dont claim they are know it alls but someone must be bright enough to know 2+2 doesn't equal 3

July 11 is a Sunday. Not a big news day. Our government has stated that Monday/Tuesday and possibly Wednesday are RED days in big cities because they know terrorists like to hit at the beginning of the week so as to be played up in the news for as long as possible.

July 12 perhaps ... but most likely not SUNDAY July 11.

This is from a secular point of view - not spiritual.

Mmm, I agree with FlyersFan on this one, if only because not much seems to happen on a Sunday (news or business wise.)

We all know at Al Queda are not at all phased about killing innocent people, however, I still believe that their MO is not one made up of just killing and terror, but they want to 'break' the US and the West as a whole.

Surely some of the biggest points these terrorists want to make is an economical one, and nothing beats the closure of the NYSE or LSE for that, meaning a week day (correctly mooted as early in the week.)

Cash is still king, and Al Queda's main objective is to hit us where it hurts..... our wallets.

Just a quiet guy's 0.02....

Yes Sunday is usually very quiet however, if they are planning the use of a nuke of dirty bomb or some other such thing, wouldn't detonating something like this at say a baseball stadium by a perfect place to do it? There is ALWAYS baseball on Sunday and that is when the stadiums are generally filled to capacity since most people are off work.
Sunday could be the day. But then again, 15 minutes from now could be the time. We just don't know.

thanks for helping me speculate all..
yes the 12th and 13th may be better options in order to affect the market, but, remember the attacks may not necessarily happen on U.S. soil, it could technically happen on the 12th in Europe or in Asia somewhere while it's still the 11th here. anything is possible

observer, that is one scenario I would not like to ever see.

Remember how off-guard 9-11 caught us??

Can you imagine coming out of church, waking up late, coming in from the garden etc... and hearing of a massive attack that is claiming/claimed many many lives.

That would be psycalogical at it's worst.

Good post WorldWatcher and for the link.

Sounds quite spooky to be honest with the 7-11 (rhymes). and there was 9/11 and 3/11. wonder how numeroligy (sp?) would fit in with this compared with the other attacks.

Lets hope it goes bye as a peaceful day

I hope that never happens with something happening at a stadium. That would affect sport big time. IMO it would possibly put you off going to matches etc.

Although, maybe i should'nt say that as its quite possible a member of al queda could be reading this and think. thats a idea to hurt them (hope you get what i mean)

(sorry for the spelling mistakes)

I agree that Sundays are typically slow-moving days in regards to news; but since terrorists have already hit at "economical" targets, I think that choosing a "moral" target (ex - houses of worship) would be a logical choice. There are some HUGE mega-churches out there...

Can you imagine a Mega-church being hit as it's program is being aired live on national television? That would prompt a heck of a lot of media coverage for the following week.

Granted, they could really lower the USA's morale by attacking our sporting venues...

Unfortunately, being vigilant and conservative means succombing to what the terrorists want to arouse, our FEAR.

Lets face it, after seeing the destruction of the World Trade Centers, and seeing the video's of fellow Americans with their heads cut off, we can't help but have that "fear" mechanisim kick in.

These terrorists will strike us when we least expect it- the element of surprise.

They want the full effect to affect as many people as possible.

*Prior to the World Trade Center's destruction, in the planning stage, these people had the option of any senario to their choosing, including sporting events, Christmas- any day or time.

Weither they physically attempt anymore destructive attacks is a moot point. They have already instilled the "fear-factor".

Debating on "when and how they'll attack next" is prima faci that they have affected us.

Absolutely no activity in Europe or US... At this point. 12:45 MST

I am more inclined to believe any attack on a western nation would be between a Tuesday and a Thursday. The stated goal is to kill Americans, and as many Americans as possible. Most likely they will attack during the work week to maximize the effect. They will even take into account people taking long weekends. Remeber 9/11/01 was a Tuesday morning.
