Head to the hills.......... what?

I posted this comment in another thread but this is worthy of its own thread.

I see a recurring theme over and over here on ATS, and that's the number of people who will "head to the hills". I can tell you that if that is your plan you best be getting your destination location pinpointed and arranging for rent or purchase and shelter now. If the SHTF many of us already in the country/hills/boonies will not take kindly to a bunch of city folk pouring in and squatting on our farmlands, in our woods, and on our mountains acting as if they have the right to be there..

Now is the time to find that wilderness location and secure it for yourself. Don't think that those of us already in the rural locations will welcome you with open arms. Its nearly as dangerous for bug outers in the wilds as it will be in the cities, except in the wilds you'll be faced with folk who know how to live there, know the area well, and will in most cases use deadly force to protect it.

Well i for one will not be bugging you, I have every intention of staying put in the city, It was were i was brought up and have got my survival hides well recced, Even have a "ghost " list of fellow survivalists who are keen to stay and learn to adjust to urban life if the SHTF, there's plenty for me to be getting on with during the first two weeks to keep me from having to go any where near the country side, If i need to i will establish a bartering site (with my own security) to haggle for the goods i will require, All said and done the country side is nice when your out with the dog and stuff but give me the city anytime mucker,...

I wouldnt worry about it to much ,most, if not all will leave it to the last minute and will all be killed in the ensuing stampede.The hills will be yours my friend.Personally i am already in the hills and will be heading for the city for supplies

my point is simple , selfishness could possible lead to SHIFT , and when it does happen ,people with that mind set need to be willing to change , and help other people out that are in need i know that if ill be doing everything i can to help anyone , ill not think about my self first

Seriously, what makes you think I'd willingly give up my fields to invaders? I might be willing to share the crops but not at the expense of my family and neighbors. Those of us who've prepared for years and already live the life bug outers would be looking for won't just roll over and let hordes of invaders stomp through it, rape it and move on.

what makes you think what your saying is going to happen ? hordes of invaders ? .. take cair of your family ,thats great , but you make it sound like your ready to kill whoever steps on your land ! do what thow wilt ! no one here is stoping you ! but i know that given any chance to help someone out i would do it in a heart beat , and i would gather as much people as i could to come rade your crops ! i am just saying !

No, but just how many families do you think I could feed and shelter? Are they willing to work the farm? Are they willing to respect the wildlife and not hunt it to extinction? Are they going to leave my flock of chickens alone so that they can reproduce or are they going to have chicken for dinner for a month and then have no eggs, no chickens ever again? I read what all the city people say they'll do when they bug out and trust me, I'm more concerned with hungry hordes than I am a power down situation.

BTW I don't "swing" that way and I doubt my husband is much into raping either!

LOL, this is great. Do you live alone? If not I feel sorry for your wife, or husband........This is the funniest thing I have read all day...... also if there is a mini ice age, you can have your mountains.. Think about that one. What if the catastrophe lands in your back yard or woods or mountains? You will probably be the one buggin out. lmao

I flaged you because I am still laughing. You got it all figured out, don't you.

When TSHTF everyone will need all the supplies we can get and while numbers are good for security, there may not be enough food to feed a large group of people.

Most people who live in the country will be trying to protect the welfare of their families, which means protecting food, supplies, and shelter most of all.

Not every bug outer that comes along will be an honest person and I'd say most of them will be looking out for themselves, just like I will be, which means all they really want is food, supplies, and shelter.

This of course is all just my opinion but when you look at it like this does it help to see why OP doesn't want people on her land?

this part here is how you should be thinking , but i can see where you are coming from , i know at some point you have to be selfish if it comes to a life treating situation or if it comes to taking food out of your children s mouths ,but keep in mind that 2 people are better then 1 , like i said before streanth in numbers my friend

So what you're all who are upset with me are saying, its not really worth your time, money or energy to secure locations for yourself now, and you'll just move in on folks who've lived in the country their whole lives?

Funny thing is, we wouldn't do it to each other and we wouldn't do it to you! But, we would protect what we've lived on for our whole lives.

And for those who asked: it depends on "how" they come. Do they come acting like they own the place and have a right? Do they come asking for help with willing hands? Do they bring their own seed or do they expect to eat the produce from yours? Listening to most on ATS they are looking to move in, take over and live happily ever after and never mind the people who are already there.

We (and I am female for those still guessing) already have multiple locations secured! So if we have to bug out we already HAVE ahead of time locations that we have a right to be at to go to.

Well if i do decide to go to the country side it will be with good intentions, ie, I will bring stuff to barter with like hemp, oil, ammo, ect (and yes even women), And even some Irish whiskie, "Now what ya got to sell"...
