Hi guys!
Forgive me if this has already been posted before. Take a look at this vid taken on 5th Jan 2011. It clearly shows some intriguing objects over the city.

Balloons? Choppers? Aircraft? UFOs (man made/alien) or just a hoax? Check it out....

Here's a close-up of one of the objects...

I think these are most likely balloons!
Or even a hoax! What do you think?

Planes.

These webcams catch alot of people the first time out though, so don't feel silly.

You can see this same image in your own night sky if you live close to an air field.

hi id just like to point out that i view that cam a LOT and those `objects` are always there

definatly a cam glitch, because if those objects were visible in real life, i think we`d know about it lol

It does? Then I must either be blind or we now have rectangular craft without wings and tail planes. Boxes/cylinders in the sky floating/moving with antigravity technology!!
Wow!

Hey OrionHunterX,

I think that most of these lights are indeed planes and/or helicopters. The long exposure time is needed for the webcam to actually display an image (and the fact that there are 3 airports around).

However there are a few irregularities.

Firstly, I would expect the lights of an airplane to be like the lights at 3:05 at the top of the frame (how do I post a pic?). It wouldn't be an intense single orb but a weak trail of light with flashes.

Secondly, how come some lights have the same intensity, yet leave a much longer trail?

And what about the irregularity of the intensity of the lights? Aren't FAA navigation and anti-collision lights and strobes regulated, i.e. they should have the same intensity?

Here is a video of the same cameras that might interest you

Notice the heavenly music and titles. Also notice that the name of the uploader is Samara Schaff. The name Samara means 'guardian' or 'protected by God'. 'Schaff' is a word of German origin and means 'creative' or 'creation' (from the verb 'schaffen').
NB: 'Schaff' can be easily confused with the word 'Schaaf' which means sheep.

Interestingly enough, searching for 'UFO manhattan' on twitter, older tweets seem to be temporarily unavailable. Well, having followed this for quite some time, these tweets have been 'temporarily unavailable' for over two months, if not more

Hope that I have enlightened you a bit

Peace

Thanks buddy for that excellent vid!
Now the question is, what are the exposure times of the cams? Are they the same throughout in a 24 hour cycle?

And what about the irregularity of the intensity of the lights? Aren't FAA navigation and anti-collision lights and strobes regulated, i.e. they should have the same intensity?

According to the FAA regulations, Part 23:

Minimum effective intensities for anti collision lights.

Each anti collision light effective intensity must equal or exceed the applicable values in the following table.

Angle above/below the horizontal plane_______Effective intensity (candles)

0° to 5° _______________________________400
5° to 10° ______________________________240
10° to 20° ______________________________80
20° to 30° ______________________________40
30° to 75° ______________________________20

So, strobe/anti collision light intensities could differ, but a minimum has been laid down.

Nope, but it's not how it actually looked in real life either. If you look to the closest buildings in those pics and see the light bleeding out of the rooms and onto the walls outside, you'll get what I mean. The images are distorted due to picture quality, which will probably make distant objects with bright lights on them like planes, helicopters, towers, etc, look completely different than how they really are.

Really?
I mean that REALLY?

I mean how many times do we have to look at this. I have never been to NYC but I have been to other large citys. The air traffic is always there. I mean don't they have like three airports in that area.
How many times is someone going to bring the same webcam stuff here before they figure out that it is airport traffic or helicopters.
When you get something like.... I don't know... Independence Day or V then please show me all your webcams of that.

Agreed! But can you tar all with the same brush? Yes, some of those objects could well be aircraft/helicopters etc. But how about some others? They do look suspicious!

Now the last poster (above) has insisted that these are aircraft. Can he prove that ALL of them are so? Just saying that they all are, isn't going to solve the puzzle. There could be a UFO in that bunch!

Definitely the third one on your list, I admit they look a bit strange but its just planes approaching an airport either taking off or landing. Edit to add ,the long exposure time is why they look strange

Well of course I don't. None of us do. I would love to be able to SEE that some of them are ET ships but there is no way we are going to be able to see that in these webcam videos.
I would like to believe that we all know that these cams, at night, are not going to show us anything special.

As explained these are just time lapse recordings, a single dot will appear stretched if its moving either left or right but an item heading towards the camera will remain a point.

But to put it a different way, if that many UFO were seen in the sky over one of the busiest cities in the world I think they would have been spotted and on the news.
