Hosea 4: 2-3

2There is only cursing,[a] lying and murder,
stealing and adultery;
they break all bounds,
and bloodshed follows bloodshed.
3 Because of this the land dries up,
and all who live in it waste away;
the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky
and the fish in the sea are swept away.

Bummer....

They are focusing on a verse in Zephaniah

“I will consume the birds of the heavens and the fishes of the sea,” is the quote from the American Standard Version of the Bible as published on the website Bible Gate.

I understand that your not clouded by the idea that the 'I' in the above sentence, meaning the God,
was going to smite the fish and the birds of a future era.

the reason the birds and fish are 'signs' is because they are sensitive to the stresses of natural occurrance
in which they live...moreso than domesticated farm animals or humans that insulate themselves from nature as much as possible.

i 'see' the wave of kill offs as indication that there are unobserved/hidden stresses and changes that humans and all their instrument readings are missing. The wind currents, the ionized atmosphere, the pollutions, the weather changes, the planet outgassing, all are contributing almost unnoticed variations in the biosphere... and as a result birds fly into unseen bad weather vortices, fly thru clouds of noxious gasses, (both manmade & natural)

the fish have the same out-of-normal forces invading their natural settings...

the earth is in stress... we just do not recognize it yet

i venture to say that the 'stress'/'birth pangs' is another outburst of live volcanos every where,
=[think in terms of the Siberian Traps]= hot gasses and lava changing the crustal landscape and topography of all landmasses... (this can be viewed as the 'GlobalShift' , popularized as the Polar Shift... or slippage of all landmasses by some 14º )

the fish & birds are not 'innocent' as one poster put it... these creatures do not have the reasoning ability to be Innocent -- nor can they be Diabolical...
the creatures become just collateral damage in the forces of Nature, which we must be observant of...

Stop proselytizing. Do you have any empirical evidence for your biblical claims? If you do, present it. If you don't, go proselytize somewhere else, or else I'll start quoting verses from the book of the flying spaghetti monster.

Oh comon... RAA didn't ask you to accept Christ as your personal saviour....

..but if it's empiracle evidence you want... take a good long look at the prophecies regarding the Jews and the state of Israel. Those prophecies were fulfilled alomost exactly to the letter. You must keep in mind that the timelines were "coded" so that 1 day in prophetic time equals 1 year in actual time.

If you're seriously interested in obtaining more knowledge you'll check it out....

Though we're talking about Zephaniah 1-3, which doesn't really mention anything other than "consuming" fish and birds. Applying our current bird and fish events to these passages takes a lot of shoehorning.

I'll agree at this point.
I just wanted to show that not all is so vague.

Seems to me that if these ancient people were visited by aliens, whom they thought of as gods, It would seem to me that an advanced civilization, knowing the way humans are and with our intelligence, they would know how it would effect the environment.
It would like plugging our qualities into a computer with variables such as:

time
Level of greed
corruption
lies
egos
ignorance
population growth
things we will obtain from the earth and consume.
assumed levels of pollutants
sensitivity levels of various species
sun cycles and other space objects of influence.
------

Things like that, or perhaps they can actually travel in time.

That's my theory and opinion.

Actually, it's still vague, if only because there's no date given. The one you listed simply has a bit more specifics than some others. Not that it matters much. There is no evidence of people or books being able to predict the future

Time will tell. Lets see if we encounter more of these "events" over the next few weeks and then I may be a little more convinced. I have to say that this seems to be quite a few occurrences in an unusual short time; if these events are only coincidences there sure seem to be a lot of them.

It sounds like you bass this on benevolence. Can't take that for granted to be sure. I believe the opposite to be true.

Coincidence is a scientific word these days." I like God do not believe in coincidence".

Prophecy is not knowledge. They actually got the date entirely wrong for the event concerning Israel becoming a nation again. That was an inevitability. I don't like it when people quote a bunch of sentences from a severely edited copy of an ancient text to spread their "truth".

Sure.

“Let us sing praise to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for He is a loving God. Of His might and dominion, there is no compare; of His mercy and deliciousness, there is no equal. No other god can challenge Him; in the taste test, He is invincible. Through His pasta, He has blessed us with everlasting life, and holy is His Name. For He is the Flying Spaghetti Monster: the One, True, and Most High God, creator of man and midgit, giver of pasta, giver of sauce, from age to holy age; not created He was, but ever He lives, through the glory of spaghetti, now and forever. R'Amen.”

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one true god, even though I have absolutely NO evidence to prove that assertion, but that's ok! Why? Because I have faith! I have faith that this impossible deity exists and watches over us all.

www.venganza.org...

www.venganza.org...

You see the problem? Your argument has no more validity nor does it have any more evidence than mine, but that's alright because I have faith that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is real and yours isn't.

By the way, most of this was directed to the proselytizer, not you. It does address you too though because you're a christian.

I rest my case.

Did you not understand my premise? You've read the entire thing, yet you still assert your biblical god concept without evidence, then you go on to assert that this conceptual being created the three things you mentioned. I guess there's really no way to get that through christians' thick skulls. Apparently, you're far too convinced of the absurdities of your religion to even consider opening your mind.

Now the burden of proof is on you to prove that the god you believe in has created the grain, the rain and men. I know where grain comes from (fields, seeds), I know where rain comes from (distilled water that evaporated from water sources and formed clouds) and I know where men come from (evolution from prehistoric species that branched into subsets, one of those eventually being modern humans). The evidence is there. Do you have any way to prove that those things come about otherwise? If you cannot prove it, your premise is a bare assertion fallacy.
