Neat "Super Powers" my friend. It does make one wonder though:

1. How are these super powers going to help Mankind?
2. Is there anyone alive who can demonstrate these super powers and there effectiveness towards helping mankind?

If there are no answers to these two questions, I'll stick with the productive super powers of Love and Forgiveness. These powers can heal a broken world and bring people together to clean up the mess we have made of it.

With Love,

Your Brother

I just thought - why do we think for granted that something should benefit human kind as a whole. Do we know what human kind really is at all, apart from what we concieved it as?

What is this mass of DNA based, self-aware, thinking machines really for?

Why did we form individuality in the first place and not remaining a swarm fo some sort?

Is the end purpose of our individual lifes to benefit the swarm? Why? (apart from apparent utilitarian reasons of common well being, peace, etc., that are reasonable, but yet not the answers to the end purpose...)

Anyway - I didn't meet anyone with those powers yet, so until shown or effectively and credibly proven otherwise - such persons don't exist.

Well Brother someone who has achieved this Superpowers can use it for good and bad as he pleases.
Let me say that you need to be on satva guna for the most of them: Satva guna is the state of goodness
And you need to be a person who practices forgivness and love for it.

Its true that power corrupts so this may also be considered a disadvantage.

The modes of goodness again here:

SB 11.25.2-5: Mind and sense control, tolerance, discrimination, sticking to one's prescribed duty, truthfulness, mercy, careful study of the past and future, satisfaction in any condition, generosity, renunciation of sense gratification, faith in the spiritual master, being embarrassed at improper action, charity, simplicity, humbleness and satisfaction within oneself are qualities of the mode of goodness. Material desire, great endeavor, audacity, dissatisfaction even in gain, false pride, praying for material advancement, considering oneself different and better than others, sense gratification, rash eagerness to fight, a fondness for hearing oneself praised, the tendency to ridicule others, advertising one's own prowess and justifying one's actions by one's strength are qualities of the mode of passion. Intolerant anger, stinginess, speaking without scriptural authority, violent hatred, living as a parasite, hypocrisy, chronic fatigue, quarrel, lamentation, delusion, unhappiness, depression, sleeping too much, false expectations, fear and laziness constitute the major qualities of the mode of ignorance. Now please hear about the combination of these three modes.

Thanks Brother

We do not think that something should benefit mankind as a whole. This is why the world is the way it is. First we think of ourselves and how something will benefit us. Once we are satisfied at this level, we extend it to our family. Then our country. What this causes is hate and animosity from those who are not benefiting from something. Thus, they will either come take it by force, develop it themselves, or despise you for not sharing.

Human kind is one family. Thinking otherwise is why we have the seperation and conflict we now have in the world. Soon, we will destroy ourselves in a big family feud, or learn to love and forgive ourselves and recognise our familial ties. This is not prophecy, but rather simple observation of the world we have made.

Finding out the answer to this question, together.

We did not form our individuality. Individuality is the result of our higher intelligence. We are what we experience and how we understand it based on our level of intelligence. Each has something to contribute that reveals a facet of the whole.

Yes, the swarm needs you and you need the swarm. The swarm is just having difficulty recognising the importance of individuality within the swarm. This is changing day by day.

I haven't met such a person yet either. One would think that if such persons existed, there would be record of them demonstrating such powers in obvious and verifiable ways.

Excellent questions my friend.

Thank you for re-emphasizing these modes of goodness again. I can agree that the modes mentioned here are good qualities to possess. However, seeking to perfect these qualities in the hopes of attaining super powers is a violation of them in and of itself. I put in bold the keys points I am referring to.

Anyway, if it is your pursuit, may it be a blessed one. I just wnated to put some thoughts out for consideration. Be good for goodness sake.

Hmm, that man doesn't convince me, I've been to India and it is full of frauds and extreme poverty where people would do anything to get some money and recognition.... I am more inclined towards the village fraud theory.

Anyway, I don't have enough posts yet to start my own thread, but I am really interested if there has ever been a properly done scientific "prana eating" test - it should be fairly simple to do.

I've fasted for more than 21 days only on water and the last few days on juices, so this is not some big feat, but one would suffer greatly and even die without water in just over a week - so this should be a fairly simple and short test - why is there no credible one done yet?

And I want some links to real scientific articles, possibly published in credible peer reviewed journals, strict 24h monitoring by sceptics and scientists, absolutely no water and food (if a person claim s/he can live off "prana") for at least 20 days. Results confirmed by sceptics beyond any doubt - 24h monitoring, absolutely no way of cheating, etc. Even better would be a whole month or two of such testing to really dispell any doubt that the person was getting energy from something else than food, water and his own body tissues. If a person is healthy, strong and fully functional after such a test that would be some proof, anything else is just a media fraud.

Has this been done to anyone making such claims - I haven't found it yet and I am really interested in it. If you have some credible link - not just the nonsense I read there, I would be deligthed to check.

Nice answers... but still - only answers that guide to more questions...

I am getting tired of this constant questioning, I hope one day there will be some more tangible answers, too...

All answers will only lead to more questions. That is how wonderful life is my friend. Every new discovery we make as a species only leads to more things to discover! We have an infinite universe above us and below us to discover. We were gifted with a mind that can unravel its mysteries one at a time. We were gifted an eternity to explore this vast creation. It is arranged in perfect order that we can find patterns and patterns within patterns all that lead us to even greater gifts!

Questioning is our divine birth right and our greatest gift. What thrill would there be in living if it was a life spent in a jar with all answers known?

If you get tired of the questioning, perhaps it is time to just relax and enjoy the answers you already have until you are ready to start the journey again.

Life is spectacular this way my friend. You can stop questioning when ever you choose and just enjoy the moment.

With Love,

Your Brother

Regarding that indian "breatharian":

irregulartimes.com...

Another failed test...

I would really like to check myself, since I can fast for long periods of time, but don't know the alleged technique to live off "prana"... I would try it - that's the only way to really proove it. (for me subjectively at least). But I fear some physical damage might occur - liver, kindeys failure, etc.

informative thread Karmayogi! i have great repsect and admiration for the siddhis or "powers". if you take in all the legends, buddhist/daoist/tibetan of these abilities, its hard to not believe their existence.

the simple answer is yes of course they are a reality. The question is however, if they are a reality for You.

Change your mind, change your world. and be happy!

For me they are an example of how far, the true potential of humans can go.
For a lot of people it is just fantasy, but why to complain about it? Acording to the same vedas
this age is meant to be like that.
