So what happens to the theory if you use 14k gold or 10K. These numbers only say how much pure gold is in a piece of gold. I have a ring thats 10k and a watch thats 18k. This just tells me how hard the gold is. Gold is a soft metal they add nickel to harden it so that my watch will not dent. 24K less nickel/ more gold. 24K is not equal to gold. And my periodic table shows AU for gold not 24K. You must be using the periodic table from Zales. (thats a jewelry store chain in the US)
