First off I have no pics but it did happen! Secondly, I am saying I saw a UFO not an alien craft. Draw your own conclusions, I have
.

I had my mother over for an early new year's eve celebration with myself and my girlfriend (and our 3 dogs
)
Around 11 PM I left my house to take her back home. I live in Jeannette she lives in Greensburg so it is about a 15 minuet or less drive to her house. There was little traffic at this time so i guess it took about 10 minuets or so to get her home.

I pulled up in front of her house half on and half off the sidewalk. She lives on route 119 South (South Main street)
which is a main route/road a few blocks from the center of town. I was helping her out of the Durango because she has a cane and suffers from C.O.P.D. I got her up the first 3 or 4 steps and we needed to stop so she could catch her breath.

While I was waiting I casually looked up her sidewalk, up the back steps and into the alley behind her house. It was a mild night and decent weather. I looked up at the stars and saw a small orange object moving across the sky. I didn't think much of it but I did wonder why the lights were not flashing and not blue white or red like on a plane or helicopter.

My mother said she was ready to go more so I reached back and took her arm. Just then I see a larger deep goldish colored sphere heading in the same direction of the first. It was only a matter of 10 or so seconds between the two.

This object was much larger and faster. The size difference would be like a ping pong ball compared to a softball.
This object was a deep gold color but it also pulsed or swirled. It made no noise and it was trucking. It passed in and out of our line of sight within 8 seconds give or take.

I have never seen a plane move that quickly. Given the distance in the sky planes at that height usually appear to move very slowly. my mother also commented on the speed, coloration and lack of sound. I ran up the stairs and up to the alley when we lost sight of it. It was completely gone.

I got my mom into her house and called my girlfriend on my cell. I put her on speaker and we told her the story. I got the usual "huh" and "hmm" lol. I did not even think to film it with my phone (Nexus S) which has a good camera. the reason I did not film it is I knew at that distance at night it would look HORRIBLE lol.

This is only the second time in my life (both in the last 8 months) that I think I saw a ufo.

Discuss away!!!!!!!!!

I saw it also, it was like 4 in the morning, it was by it self, a fiery orange orb, moving around a little casually before fading out.

Well I guess I will be the first to suggest that what you saw was a Chinese lantern , the description fits the bill and they are very popular at new years eve , I saw a couple myself last night .

There has been a lot of action in PA over the last yr. I've been in contact on another forum with a couple of people in PA in the past yr, they've seen activity nightly at times.

Nah, cliche explanation

Cliche maybe ..... but the most likely explanation for an orange sphere sighted on New Years eve .

Could they be meteors? The Quadrantid meteor shower started last night.

I have never so many Chinese lanterns as i did last night, was like a full on alien invaision. Having never really seen them before I can now understand why so many people mistake them for UFO's

You don't need a photo/video for your story to be true.
Recall when I was very young, a teen..saw an orange colored "ball" of light about 8:30 PM as I walked
up the road..it zigzagged up and down then suddenly shot forward ..humm..might have been some kind
of rocket/drone but at night? I believe this was during the sixties where there seemed to be some kind
of ufo flap going on.
I don't know..we don't always have a good camera in hand. Have heard
or read about strange things going on in PA but I guess that can happen anywhere.

I'm giving this story a benefit of a doubt even if that makes me look foolish..it may very well be a good
policy to avoid these things if you can...instead of rushing out to take video etc..or trying to "contact" them..you
might get more than you bargained for and it might not be a good thing as they say.

I have seen lanterns before but I don't think it was one. It was on pretty much the same path as the first object. Also it was moving at a good rate of speed on a fairly still night, not drifting like a lantern guided by wind but hauling butt LOL.

Logical response though and thanks for not being sarcastic I appreciate it. Also as a foot note although it was new year's eve I was not drunk lol, I do not drink

That is a possibility, but this was not arcing or falling and I saw no tail or streaking. Also I believe it must have accelerated or something to be gone that quick.

I live about an hr N of Detroit MI and I saw the exact same thing tonight, and I had a witness. No photos, as it was only in the air about 15 seconds, but I know what I saw. I was at a gas station when I saw a buddy that I havent talked to in years, then at that moment, about 30 feet in the air and maybe 100 feet away, above the trees was a fairly slow moving golden orb. It was completely silent and came out of no where. I was no where near and airport and it even stopped for a moment then kept moving and dipped down behind the tree line. My friend saw it as well and neither of us knew what to make of it. No way was it a plane or helicopter, but a glowing orb

As for the lantern theory, the size relations I gave of the objects was that the the bigger one was about the size of a softball to a ping-pong ball. That was merely to illustrate the difference in size between the two objects not their actual size.

The objects appeared to be at the same height that we see airplanes traveling at, what they call their cruising height. Therefore for the larger object to be a lantern it would have to be a lantern bigger than my house. That would be one large lantern. something like 30 or more hot air balloons I would guess.
