Ok so today I bought an Imperial M7 Bayonet with a M8A1 Scabbard marked with VIZ. I have done some research and do know that it is Vietnam war era, and that the scabbard was made circa 1967 by a company that only made them for 18 mo.

My question is, I paid $58 for it. Was this a good price?

Imperial Schrade was contracted to Colt to produce these bayonets, and they are not terribly rare. Around 30,000 of those were made.

$60 bucks is bottom of the barrel when it comes to many modern mil-spec bayonets, some of the old Vietnam era bayonets won't fetch much more than what you paid, so I'd say you're about par.

Thanks for the reply, good to know I made a good buy. The guy I bought it from is a local collector/antique weapons dealer, so I felt pretty confident he would be honest with me. Good to know I was correct.

I also have to say this is the first bayonet I have collected and am happy with the purchase! It is in great condition and is going to be a neat addition to my slowly growing collection of militaria.

If you're going to be collecting military gear WW2 stuff and Revolutionary War weapons usually bring in a pretty good haul.

A quick search on Google yielded me these results here:

Prices

Looks like between about 40 bucks and 125 depending on condition.
So it looks like your price is pretty much on par
