"In the coming five years, our military will push forward preparations for military conflict in every strategic direction," said Liang Guanglie in an interview published by several state-backed newspapers in China. "We may be living in peaceful times, but we can never forget war, never send the horses south or put the bayonets and guns away," Mr Liang added.

China repeatedly says it is planning a "peaceful rise" but the recent pace and scale of its military modernisation has alarmed many of its neighbours in the Asia-Pacific, including Japan which described China's military build-up as a "global concern" this month.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

The interesting thing about this is another article I just read the other day about how China was deploying "anti-carrier" weapons.... economictimes.indiatimes.com...

These articles raise so many questions in the face of what is going on in Korea. Are these stories, just the western media beating the drums of war or is China a serious threat...... Do really think we have to worry about China striking out and trying to conquer regional countries like Japan and Germany did in WWII?

I think China will try to gain influence over natural resources in Africa and South America, where traditionally Western powers held sway.

Inevatably there will be conflicts of interest, but I honestly can't see them ever been a real military threat to the USA.

I get the impression that in nearly every American I meet, that the 'fire burns deep', and what i mean by that, is if the SHTF, there will be a hell unleashed that would scare the devil, if China was to try an aggressive move against America.

One burst from a super EMP weapon detonated at 40 miles above the continental US - easily deliverable by a scud type missile from an annonymous coastal freighter - whilst all your missile defenses are geared towards ICBM's and unable to stop it.

Within a yr 95% of you will be dead, no-one will be manning the subs or missiles - you will be sitting ducks for anyone that wants to take you.

If I were a chinese general that is exactly what I would be planning - or rather exactly what I would be facilitating NK or Iran to do.

This is just like 911 - a transparently obvious and predicatable scenario - just waiting to happen.

yes, i agree, an emp attack would be devastating, but surely, this scenario will have been thought about, and prepared for, with some other weaponry???

So its allright that the u.s arm its puppets all over the world including asia.. But its not allright for china to prepare to be able to defend itself.. Funny havent seen china invade other countries and murder their citizens for resources and corporate greed the way the u.s does.. A hell of alot more freedom in china than in amerika. No DHS, TSA, imaginary war on terror in china.. Hmm...

China or whoever on the East does that will have to face NATO and the U.S. and will be crushed. The U.S. has soldiers, bases, and aircraft carriers all over the world. You wouldn't defeat the U.S. I think Russia, Europe, and the rest of the world would rather have the U.S. leading than China. If China were to take out the U.S., Russia will make some big moves.

In any case, China wouldn't want that. Why kill "95" percent of a population when you can take advantage of them economically.

Johnny thats so evil sounding.

Do we have EMP tech of that caliber?

Will the USA even let a ship capable of that launch into its nearby waters?

Perhaps this explains the recent development of the laser to shoot down everything that flies.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I nearly choked on the air I breathed because that comment twisted by brain into a tornado of confusion. BLAARGH

Do you know ANYTHING about China?

Dare I even list the atrocities and oppression they commit on a daily basis?

You dont need the TSA when the entire population is too poor to drive themselves let alone fly

There is very little defence against this, maybe the promise of all out global retaliation, would get the Russians and Chinese to call off NK - but as for Iran, getting the infidel powers to nuke each other is their main game plan anyway - that is assuming that ICBM's could withstand a super EMP wave in the first place.

The NWO needs to take the US down one way or another - personaly I suspect Obama is fully on board with this!

TextSuper-EMP weapons Last but not least, senior Russian EMP experts warned the EMP Commission that “brain drain” from Russia enabled North Korea to make what the Russians call “Super-EMP” weapons.11 According to Russian open sources, these are small, low-yield nuclear weapons that can generate extraordinarily powerful EMP fields, many times more powerful than the E1 EMP from a multi-megaton weapon.12 Both of North Korea’s nuclear weapons tests that produced low yield “fizzles” look very like what would be expected from a “Super-EMP” weapon. According to open source reporting, South Korean military intelligence claims North Korea is receiving Russian help developing “Super-EMP” weapons.13 Moreover, the EMP Commission discovered from its investigations that, as noted in the Commission’s unclassified Executive Report, “Certain types of relatively low-yield nuclear weapons can be employed to generate potentially catastrophic EMP effects over wide geographic areas, and designs for variants of such weapons may have been illicitly trafficked for a quarter-century.”14

That's where HAARP comes into the picture... the public actually knows very little about this conspiracy riddled device. Yet Congress had budgeted $15 million in the FY '97 budget for HAARP. The American military is one step ahead of the game in the War Games department. With a military budget of 1.35 trillion in 2010. During FY 2009, the federal government collected approximately $2.1 trillion in tax revenue. Primary receipt categories included individual income taxes (43%), Social Security/Social Insurance taxes (42%), and corporate taxes (7%). you see how you are paying for all of this. The question is how long will the US government be able to maintian this expenditure with the current economy. Especially if China starts to squeeze in on the international drilling of oil, and mining of lithium in the near future. Which is what it looks like in Afganistan right now. Not too mention the fact that Russia and China are planning to start conducting their mutual trade in rubles and yuan in a bid to remove the globally predominant U.S. dollar from the equation. What happens when the cash runs out?

China and its allies are plotting to be the "supreme global power" both economically and militarily. But how can that happen as long as the US retains control over the global economy?

The times are changing, that hold is slipping, China sees opportunity, a clever series of proxy attacks should finish the US off.

Can't be a global super power without a massive all-powerful military.. The US set that standard.

China has become home for many US corporations already, Perhaps they have seen the writing on the wall?

Or worse, maybe they know what is coming?

Given that it currently feels like we are in a 3 way economic war, personally I now view any next head butting as a 3 way split between the US, Europe and China..

I will be honest and say that I do not know which 2 will gang up on the 3rd... as I still feel it could go in any direction.

Edit to add... it reminds me to much of Orwells 1984.... I guess I see a real chance of the UK turning into Airstrip one...

Yes Russia will certainly be making some big moves! - into a depopulated and defenceless Europe and the M.E.

All they need is to light the blue touchpaper on the M.E time bomb.

Israel destroys the Arab cities with its Sampson option, refugees flee from an irradiated M.E across the Med to Europe in their tens of millions, sparking a Euro-wide jiahdi civil war, resident muslims paralyse any military response, Turkey joins in etc etc.

The NWO get what it wants - all three monotheistic religions destroyed - itself left as the only source of authority, huge population reduction -with good stock of proven subservience left to rebuild - the elites of course will be safe in their underground cities and the only ones left in possesion of working technology.

They probably roped the Russians into this by convincing them to play ball - due to the coming ice age (conventional wisdom in the 70's) - hence of course the GW scam to get everyone to look the other way.

This really is starting to sound like Command and conquer (the game)!

I reckon China is just building up in case war breaks out, I don't think they are planning anything. All the tensions in the world at the minute, especially Korea, can you blame them for being prepared?

I think China has it's head screwed on when it comes to this sort of thing anyway, North Korea for example, China knows they are the bad guys, and are slowly distancing themselves, whilst at the same time trying to maintain peace.

I'd hate to think of how large China could build it's army though, even the largest countries in the world would be outnumbered something like 10 to 1.

Someone read the book One Second After.

Too bad it was 90% tall tale. EMP's do not do half the things people are scared of.

Your kidding right?

North Korea is China's little step child, one of many designed to keep the US involved in militarily... Or maybe it is coincidence that NK has completely modeled its governing structure to match the Chinese?

China has extremely capable defensive and retaliatory capabilities, where it is lacking is in offensive military capabilities. The kind of overwhelming power to invade and occupy nations like the US has done in the Middle East.

If China and Russia become allies, and they are! together, Militarily and economically they can eventually rule the world. The US must be defeated from within, economically! That is already happening.... What comes next?

Maybe a series of large scale "terrorist attacks" blamed on Al Qaeda would finish the US off as a global economic leader, along with a longer term and more complex plan to destroy the US economically?

China owns vast amounts of US debt, and has seen a lot of US manufacturing relocate to China already, I suppose these are also coincidence?

May be wise to learn Chinese... Could be very beneficial soon.

Maybe we need to start all over.

Actually, do we even have time to?

*looks at the giant clock in his wall counting down to the next ice age*

Hmmm. nope. We're hooped.

Lets just enjoy the show.

Not too sure what HARP can or cannot really do - but it sure looks vulnerable to any sort of attack to me , especially an EMP.

The US economy is going down for sure - I think that is just a prelude to its military take-down.
