Halliburton agrees to pay $35 mln in Nigeria graft case

US oil services group Halliburton agreed to pay Nigeria 35 million dollars to settle a bribery dispute which led to charges being filed against former US vice president Dick Cheney, it said Tuesday.

US authorities said last year that Halliburton and KBR had agreed to pay 177 million dollars to settle charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States over the scandal.

KBR agreed to pay a further 402 million dollars to settle criminal charges brought by the US Justice Department.

Documents detailing the total payoffs reveal the following:

The U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission
settled FCPA-charges against a third of the four joint venture partners, and
its parent, related to the construction of seven LNG trains for Nigeria’s Bonny
Island Project. To-date, Kellogg, Brown and Root, Inc. (KBR), then a division of
Halliburton, Technip S.A. of France and Snamprogetti Netherlands BV, a sub-
sidiary of ENI S.p.A. of Italy, have been charged with paying over $100 million in
bribes to Nigerian government officials during the course of a decade in order to
secure more than $6 billion of work.

You recieved $6 billion from 'kick backs' totalling $100 million! Now the GOV want's a piece of your pie, to the tune of $620 Million! Thats not bad, considering your criminal activity in THIS particular case still netted you $5 Billion, 280 Million Dollars!

Goldman Sachs to Pay Record $550 Million to Settle SEC Charges Related to Subprime Mortgage CDO

Goldman agreed to settle the SEC's charges without admitting or denying the allegations by consenting to the entry of a final judgment that provides for a permanent injunction from violations of the antifraud provisions of the Securities Act of 1933. Of the $550 million to be paid by Goldman in the settlement, $250 million would be returned to harmed investors through a Fair Fund distribution and $300 million would be paid to the U.S. Treasury

Lehman Holdings has agreed to pay Enron Corp. $69.9 million to settle charges that the investment bank improperly received certain payments from Enron... Altogether, Enron claimed that it made $235.3 million of improper payments to Lehman in January and November 2001, according to the report.

I like your humor. Sadly we'll be paying the price. Our children will be paying the price and their children. Fudge, the only way to win is to stop reproducing and just sit on our asses and not go to work. Seriously, what do we have that's tangible and not ready to be liquidated by the government? Land/home ownership is a joke. 90% of the people in America do not outright OWN their home. Even if you did you have no land or mineral rights and everything you'd like to do is regulated by a HOA (home owners association)... what a complete paradox. Folks, this is the new world order. All humor aside, I've noticed for several years now how CRIME actually pays!!!

If you're folks like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Game, etc., you can sell drugs, murder, pimp, commit armed robberies, etc. because you're a "G", then go legit by using all that illegally and criminally acquired money to buy equipment, an education, a promoter, marketing, and start a business as an indepenant record lable that pomotes music that turns around and braggs about all that criminal stuff you did to get where ya are.

That's o.k. though, because the dope they used to sell and make millions of dollars with was supplied to them by one of Bill Clinton's boys, who would simply pick up the orders from the CIA plane that just landed unchalleged in Little Rock, Arkansas fresh from Nicaragua carrying $50 billion in smuggled coacaine stolen from the Columbians, then drive it to Compton, probably with a thank you card from then CIA director Edgar Casey, Who in later years was brought before an internal Congressional Inquiry into allegations of said operations and went on record with the statement:

" Yeah, I brought 50 billion Dollars of illegal coacaine into this country and put it on American streets in order to make money. We needed money to finance the war against communism in Central America - money this country didn't have. So I made it possible, for probably the first time in thier miserable lives, for all the drug addicts out there to support thier Country financially. I don't feel guilty doing it, as I felt it was my patriotic duty to find a way to fight communism in the western hemisphere, which if placed in such similar a situation as that again, I'd do it all the same way I did back then."
