This is a fantastic video, starred and flagged! I cannot stand to think that this is true, but I already know that it is. I personally know teachers who aren't bad people hell they are life-long friends, but don't know jack sh*t about history, politics, economics, or any "conspiracy theories" and that personally makes me not want to send my children to public schools. There is only one way to fight this new reality, to not participate!

This is a great video. There is nothing more to say than that. There's nothing in this video that can be refuted. The facts are all here in plain sight. There's simply no denying it anymore. If this government ever cared about us, it was a very long time ago.

Schools are nothing more than indoctrination centers preparing children to be compensated slaves of Corporate America. We are nothing to these people but objects that are only worth their exploitation value. John D. Rockefeller's quote says it all:

"I don't want a nation of thinkers. I want a nation of workers."

S&F. Made me weep, for my nieces and nephews, my friends' kids. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket and this is one the primary reasons why. This is why people get offended - hell, even fighting mad - if you question "official doctrine". Keep it up!

I don't understand what the video is getting at, mainly because there are no subtitles/captions (I'm hearing impaired).

It's showing examples of poorly-spelled work that appear to be faked. If you're going to claim that Americans are being dumbed down intentionally, you need proof.

It starts by presenting the case of a girl called Maya which was happy and energic until she went to school where the shrink gave her medication and the teacher was encouraging her and giving her gold start even though her writing was awfull. The girl eventually commited suicide at the age of 9.
In the other parts of the video you can see different children that stopped taking their medication and were responsable for school shootings and what vaccines contain.

(these are the parts you need to hear, the rest have writing)

Great video, never seen it before

This is a subject I feel strongly about so I hope plenty of people get to see the video. Here is some more information and related videos:

Plenty of decent info in that thread and also a few interviews with Charlotte Iserbyt (author of the book the video is based on), plus plenty of great links provided by other ATSers.

Cheers

I stopped around 3 minutes because the narrator said the mother let it slide. That's the reason American kids are dumbing down, we let the media and TV raise our children. As someone who has worked with children before, I can assure you there are more parents out there than you think that have no clue what they're doing as parents.

I agree. If you want your kids to not be dumbed down by the state you really have no alternative but to homeschool. And since there are millions of families in America that are currently doing exactly that maybe there is still hope for the next generation.

The only thing i am adding to this topic is "Charlotte Iserbyte". For those who actually read, and don't mind doing a quick Google search.

Excellent recommendation, I've never heard her before. Thank God for whistle blowers.

Thanks for the video.
It creeped me out though!

I remember an American student who used to study with me in UK.He always use to take high number of pills after every couple hours and washed it down with a bottle of coke or milk.Every other day he would feel sick or have some sorta mental break down or something. He was really intelligent but this pill thing always dragged him down academically. He use to walk in at the end of lectures and would think to himself that he's on time but everyone including the lecturer use to laugh at how much of an idiot he was.He never told us why he took the pills and would blatently ignore us if we asked him.

Don't know if this is generally the case with students in US.

I'm afraid that the dumbing down of our youths is not only in the United States but also in Canada. I was told to stop "teaching" my children because they were too advanced compared to the rest of the class. I never tought a day in my life. All I did was help refine there skills. I told them to skip my kids ahead one grade then. I was flabbergasted to learn that that was not an option. Who are they to tell me what to do at home. So I keep helping them become better at what they are good at and the school keeps telling me to stop. I'll be a fight to the bitter end I'm afraid. But we must persevere for our kids are our future, and with out them our futute wil proove to be bleek indeed.

Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist nor a video to figure out that the public education is a fraud. Funds to schools have increased over the years, and yet our nation has the highest in drop out and failure rate. If we would pull the PC crap out of the schools and the religious propaganda out, we wouldn't be having this problem. PERIOD!

This is by design.

Every few years a new program rolls out. It takes advantage of the propensity of the human to follow a fad (brought out even more by American culture and its grooming for short attention spans). It makes it more difficult for the parent to help the kid with homework, to a point that it is rare to even see homework any more (unless you are talking higher mathematics, etc, where things change less frequently).

I sat down to help my son with some basic algebra, using the algebra i learned circa 1988-1992. Yeah, i got the right answers. But he was horrified to see that what i was doing was not familiar. It is because there is some new math system being used (i hear it is popular in a lot of Texas schools).

It is just like the story of Babel. We speak different languages in math and science than our children. My son, who graduated with honors, took 2 honors biology classes and never once heard of the Golgi apparatus. When it came up in a discussion he didn't know what i was talking about.

They even took away the brontosaurus. What is Fred Flintstone supposed to eat now???

Seriously...it is about making it difficult for parents to communicate academically with their kids. Scales are changed, fads are followed, and we don't see the incremental stupidity and ignorance that is creeping up on us.

It's not necessarily a dumbing down, but rather a case of misplaced priorities. We have a celebrity worshiping culture that begs its citizen's to try and become celebrities. Look at the proliferation of the reality style television that has cropped up over the past 10-20 years. These shows require little more thought than taking a crap does and stress physical performance over anything else. Look at the music industry, which pays its acts to become a hero or icon to their fans, emulating not only their physical appearance but their views on life, etc.

What we need is a paradigm shift in our culture where academics are praised just as much, if not more, than being a "reality star" or musician is. We have gotten away from celebrating academic achievements and settled on allowing media conglomerates to dictate what our culture should be.

How does one go about making this happen? I have no idea.

But we have just as many trivia shows, such as Jeopardy, as we do reality shows.

I'm not denying that schools have changed, but there's no need to be up in arms about something just because it's different. 1+1 still equals 2. It doesn't matter if the formula changed to 1+500-499 = 2. Yes, extreme example that isn't the case, but it still stands. Different professors in college will sometimes use different types of formulas. The problem is, they usually take way too many steps, and people, through the years, have found a shorter way to that same answer. Why put the kids through the torture of over difficult mathematics and science that a lot of us learned in school when there is an easier way to do it?
