Like most new ATSer's I have been following for a while, and thought it time to join up.

My favourite topics are 9/11 (so so interesting), ancient civilizations, and weather patterns - particularly the impact of the sun on our environment.

This (weather related) article in particular caught my eye recently if anyone is interested.

Glad to be here with you.

It's best to post a description, opinion or excerpt as many folk don't like having to clicky the linky.

Here you go...

There's a mini ice age coming, says man who beats weather experts

Piers Corbyn not only predicted the current weather, but he believes things are going to get much worse, says Boris Johnson, London's mayor The man who repeatedly beats the Met Office at its own game [...]

My opinion/thoughts: It's cold; the theory of the article has crossed my mind.

Thanks for the tip.

There seems to have been a trend in news stories towards this 'ice age' for a while.

From 2005: Alarm over dramatic weakening of Gulf Stream.
The powerful ocean current that bathes Britain and northern Europe in warm waters from the tropics has weakened dramatically in recent years, a consequence of global warming that could trigger more severe winters and cooler summers across the region, scientists warn today.

www.guardian.co.uk...

From 2009: Climate change: Gulf stream collapse.
The next Ice Age could take only weeks to engulf Britain. Scientists say the last great disruption to the Gulf Stream 12,800 years ago took only a couple of months to trigger a massive plunge in temperatures across Europe.

I too am interested in the Abrupt Climate Change info, in fact have recently started a group on yahoo to discuss the changes in things like Great Ocean Conveyor, Gulf Stream Shutdown, New Ice Age, Shifts in the Jet Streams, etc. If you are interested in the subjects and have info to share plse join me at:

tech.groups.yahoo.com...

or go in Yahoo Groups and look for Abrupt Climate Change Group! I hope to see you there but only if you are actually coming to contribute something. Just today I was looking over info that has the main jet streams in the Northern Hemisphere far to the south of their normal positions, in fact, the one that normally heads towards UK is instead over North Africa. And on the other side, storms that constantly batter the Aleutians are now battering Southern California instead?? Why?? come and discuss it on the group! Are we beginning a new period of Interglaciation on the level of the Younger (Lesser) Dryas almost 14k yrs ago? If so that would mean 2/3 of humanity die within a couple years barring any major offseting by Global Warming.

Or how about this??? There is a pattern to the shifting of the ocean currents in the Great Ocean Conveyor. Any oceanography textbook will mention that. And the changes are oscillations in the pattern, some smaller (AKA Mini Ice Age, hundreds of years of cold winters in Europe and North Am), others larger (Lesser (Younger) Dryas thousands of years of cold and glaciers moving all the way into the US of A). What makes this pattern? Some say the Earth's own orbit moving against the ocean currents is largely responsible, others that the axis of the Earth off center is the key to the whole thing. In any event being able to decode this cycle would be of great importance to mankind.

I have many links posted now on the Group website. Including a study commissioned by DoD few years back to see what effects an Abrupt Climate Change would have; it makes interesting reading. Also there are new pics from the DEOS satellite data so you can see the Gulf Stream is not right. See it yourself. Find a pic of how it is supposed to be and compare that is the best thing to do. The info is out there people. btw i found some info very recently indicating some possibility of a link to the world's worst ecological disaster - the BP spill earlier this year, and how the entry into the Atlantic may be contributing to the shutdown of the Gulf Stream.

Thanks for the invite, but to join the yahoo group I would have to provide details which I would prefer to keep private.

I hope to see more off your posts sharing your findings around ATS (as I am sure others will). Good Luck !

I just stumbled across the following info regarding "Are We Entering An Engineered Ice Age?", there is a lot of it so I am providing a link. I realise that many of the points' raised have probably been covered elsewhere but this seems to be a very well thought out succinct sumisation of the whole topic and its various causes and the reasons behind them.

Keep up the pressure on the disclosing the truth. (Looks for right arm in the air icon!)

Well its getting a lot warmer here in the UK, so i'm not sure this ice age is really something to be concerned about.

A Very interesting article from the BBC.

According to the Met Office December 2010 will turn out to be the coldest December since 1890 based on the Central England Temperature (CET) dataset which started in 1659.

They also say that December 2010 will also be the coldest December in the 100 year UK temperature series, covering England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, easily beating the next coldest December in all these areas

2010 has also been the coldest year since 1986, off the back of winter 2009/2010 which was the coldest since 1978/79.

Interestingly, the CET 12 monthly rolling temperature averages peaked in April 2007 and have fallen continuously since then.

Remarkably, at a time when global warming remains a very high profile issue around the world, the 2010 UK CET figure is around the levels recorded from the years 1659 to 1758 - and well below the median figure for the whole series which runs from 1659 to 2009.

For the UK at least, the climate in the last few years far from warming, has been very definitely cooling.

This could be yet more anecdotal evidence that the prolonged solar minima which started around 2007 continues to influence the UK's climate.
