While Newfoundland is not known for quakes, it has had a few biggies in the general region, including a subsea magnitude 7.2 on November 18, 1929 that produced a localized tsunami.

You can read about it in this Earthquakes Canada article entitled The 1929 Magnitude 7.2 "Grand Banks" earthquake and tsunami. A very good article, that includes photographs, maps, and many details of the mechanics of the tsunami. Well worth reading.

I had heard about that one in school a few times. The Burin Peninsula got totally destroyed, it had no chance. I fear something like that happening to the east coast where I live since it's more or less a small narrows to our city which is built in a medium-sized valley that only stretches a couple miles uphill. I was fine with living on an island, albeit near the most easterly point in NA.

New or unusual earthquake data or unpredictable patterns make me uneasy.

What a strange day, today.

Fourth NZ quake, the most shallow yet, and a 2.8 and 2.7 in Oklahoma, 2.7 in Nevada and a 2.9 in Arkansas, so says the USGS.

Edit: Another Nevada quake, 3.2 initial, revised to 3.5. Poor constraint depth of 5.7km

I think it's the Madison Plateau. Starting on the 20th, there have been about half a dozen small ones there. Not recorded on list.

Yes, you were quick to get that one up. I see it's now been revised to a 6.2 by USGS.

What's interesting is how deep it is. I mean, over 500 km deep! I'd say that's rather unusual in that area. Could be wrong but I suspect it is so.

Also, it's interesting because I specified Bolivia in a post on Nov 19 on the "Experiment" thread here. Have to say that at the time I posted I had Bolivia as a likely location (hence said so) but was expecting it within around a day of my post. But I suppose around three days isn't too huge a difference.

You can get therapy for that!!

Seriously though, that is not really relevant information and whilst you and I and several others may understand what it is about, many will not and will become concerned over a list which is no cause for concern to them.
