Hi MamaJ, that quake was reported by both USGS and EMSC so not sure why they are saying it was not, unless that was the case at the time.

Date/Time UTC,Latitude,Longitude,Magnitude,Depth(Km),Location
2011-10-29 13:50:49, -0.134, -78.370, 4.0, 3.0, Ecuador
2011-10-29 13:50:49, -0.130, -78.370, 4.0, 3.0, Ecuador

The top one is EMSC. Interestingly the USGS is reporting that the earthquake was detected by 0 stations! Mm.

Hi PM....I have been waiting for you...will you go on GEE and click on Florida? I was just wondering what the numbers mean....like -473 microns per second.....I usually don't see numbers that high. What does that mean?

Hmmmmm yeah that is odd....they must have just posted it because I have been awaiting to see how long it would take them to get on the ball. I am really get impatient with them lately.
It makes me want to go there, push them aside and get the show on the road. Damn....I mean.....get off your lazy butts and report EQ's when they happen already!

I'm too lazy right now (still on my first cup of coffee) to do all that complicated math
But I would hazard a guess that it's showing the 6.9 near peru. It always amazes me how much it affects seismos all over the world. Tells ya something, eh???

Which station and channel?

Normally a trace that is more negative than positive, or vice versa, means one with unequal components like more North than South of more East than west, or more Down than up. It si something that you often see on the Arkansas seismograms.

It sure does....but the odd thing is that all the surrounding sites are normal, but florida is showing -479 microns per second, whatever that means.I know it's not normally like that .....just curious is all. I checked every other station surrounding it, and all the rest are just normal as usual....

You are looking at LISS and as westcoast say, that is still the Peru trace coming through,

Takes 24hrs to clear off the system so should nearly be gone now from the main time and just leave the big wavy bits showing (hanging down if you like) for a few more hours.

EDIT: Okay, just saw your reply to Puterman and also his request that you errrm replied to...

OK....I was just curious. But why aren't all the other stations picking it up? Florida is the only one with those numbers (on GEE)....BTW what does microns per second mean?

Ah right with you now. It is just that the whole signal is pushed down below the zero line. I am not sure if they normalise the data (TA would know) but sometimes even if it is normalised this can happen. Usually when there is a strong earth tide. Of course with a new moon just happening the earth tide will be fairly strong.

Looks like microseisms building as well. DWPF.IU.00.BHZ.2011.302 Is it getting stormy in those parts?

BTW what does microns per second mean

It is the distance that the arm of the seismogram moves. 1 micron is 1000th of a mm so -500 microns is a negative movement of about half a millimetre. Not a lot really!!

In that thing you linked to see "Christopher C. Sanders"

Now go and research the man who was I believe prosecuted for impersonating the USGS.

You can safely ignore that page.
