Is this the same one? If not 6.2 Earthquake hits Argentina:

AnonymousFem: No, the 6.2 happened earlier today and a bit south of this quake. This was reported by Puterman here.

MamaJ: I don't think this was an aftershock as it is quite a distance from the 6.2 this morning. Although, being in the same part of the world, these 2 quakes could be the start of a shift in the area. Time will tell.

Be Well.

Ok...good deal. That is why I asked as I thought you were referencing it was indeed an aftershock.

What kind of shift are you thinking? Like a bigger EQ?

This one prior to the Argentina 6.2 was missed.
Yap, W Caroline Islands, Micronesia
Geo Au - 6.2
Geofon - 6.0
USGS - 5.8
EMSC - 5.8 (used NEIC data)

Witness Location : Colonia (Micronesia) (34 km SW from epicenter)

It lasted around 10-12 seconds. The shaking was very abrupt. Everything was rumbling and shaking. I had felt several tremors prior to this (3 months, and 5 months ago) but nothing anywhere close to this one. It was very scary...I was about to run my ass outside.

Why do you think it will be that magnitude and where do you think it may be? I have seen over the past two days the swarm in Arkansas again and I really hope if we get a big one somewhere it is in the ocean and not on land here in the US....or anywhere on land for that matter!!

Very probably it happened on sensitive places over "Ring of Fire" ..

There are many reasons, most important for me in next days is gravitationally and kinetic energy between Earth and Moon ..

Moon be in very short period two time in year closes (Perigee) and farthest (Apogee) from Earth ..

Think M 7.8+ happened in max 20 days and probably in ocean because water-tide pressure and movement ..

It seems that it has become active, after the lull.
I will be keeping an eye on it.

Reykjanes is normal as I posted earlier. Always happens around this time of year and usually a batch of 3 or 4 mag 5 or thereabouts.

Jujuy on another subject may be downgraded to a 6.1 later I think, or possibly a 6.0 but I think 6.1 more likely. Time will tell.

It has been downgraded, or did you point at the wrong one?

Never mind. Geofon still have it as a 6.0

USGS have it 5.8 still on 2 of the tensor solution, but 5.9 on the centroid.

You comment about the shift. I think it would be fair to say that 'often' the quakes in the Argentina are deep - subduction zone quakes as they are called. In this list I have marked the one that are NOT deep in orange.

Basically the point of this was to suggest that perhaps your activity theory would possibly be enhanced if the Argentina one had been deep - suggesting a slab movement. I am not quite sure what to make of the shallow ones except that perhaps they are settlement after deep movement.
